I just noticed that all my images on my site, has been vanished from Google Image Search tab. Here's some informations:
- I do included images in sitemaps.
- All links are accessible for bot.
- The bot still scrapes the images via crawl report in GSC.
- In Bing, the images are there.

My site just gone through a virus attack, got decrease in ranking but as I fixed it now it's on track again, posts are rank good, but no images in image tab. It used to rank high for images also.

So is there any chance that it's affected from the virus before or it's just a temporary bug while the update is happening?

There are many reasons
1. Delayed indexing of Google Images
2. Robots.txt blocking
3. Meta tags or HTTP headers

It looks like your images were temporarily removed from Google Image Search due to the virus attack, which could have affected Google's trust in your site. Since you've fixed the issue and your posts are ranking well again, here’s what you can do to get your images back:

  1. Check for penalties in Google Search Console (GSC) under the "Security & Manual Actions" section to ensure there’s no action against your site.
  2. Resubmit your sitemap that includes the images in GSC.
  3. Optimize your images with proper alt text, relevant filenames, and sizes to improve their chances of being indexed.
  4. Ensure there are no blocking issues in your robots.txt file or meta tags that might prevent Google from crawling your images.
  5. Request a re-crawl of your images through GSC to speed up their reindexing.
It may take some time, but following these steps should help your images show up in Google Image Search again.

It’s possible that the virus attack impacted your image rankings, as Google may have temporarily flagged or de-prioritized your site. Since your posts are back on track, it could just be a delay in Google reprocessing the images. Just keep monitoring GSC, and you could better consider submitting a URL inspection or request a re-crawl for the images.

If that issue and fix happened recently then there's a delay that can last for a few weeks at the most. The more traffic the website gets, the smaller the delay. Losing traffic like that its a shitty situation... Hope you'll get back on track soon.

All my images comeback and rank high as it used to be, I did remove all my removal requests in GSC, which only applied for virus generated urls, but I doubt that related. As the update's happening right now it's hard to determine which one cause this.

Sometimes it takes time to index especially images. Please wait some time and check again.
