    1. The first line of listing:

    The item will ship in 10-12 Business Days after payment. Please do not order if you need it earlier.

    Buyer: 3 days after payment. Where's my item?
    Me: The listing says 10-12 business days but I'll see what I can do to get it out sooner. If you'd rather just cancel the order, I'd be happy to refund you.
    Buyer: Okay, thanks

    The item ships 7 days after payment, buyer leaves neg anyways for slow delivery.

    2. Repeat customer in Germany, Customer doesn't sign for the item at the post office, it sits there for two weeks gets returned to me. I write customer about it, he still wants the item, so I reship (and eat another shipping charge), customer leaves neg for slow delivery.

    3. Me: From the pics and the specs you sent me, I don't think this will fit.
    Buyer: I think it will
    Me: Are you sure? I've been doing this for 10+ years and I'm pretty sure about this.
    Buyer: I'm 100% sure you're wrong, okay? Do you want to sell it to me or not?
    Me: Okay, but if it doesn't fit, you can't return it because I can't sell it as new, okay?
    Buyer: yeah, yeah, yeah, take my money already.

    Buyer one week after receipt: TomL3030 sold me stuff that won't even fit and he won't refund my money!

    4. scammer who wanted a refund before i received the return "because he has bills to pay"

    5. Buyer receives the item, takes it to a 3rd party shop to make major modifications to it, and the idiot puts a blow torch to it and melts half the thing, after which the buyer tries to return.

    6. Okay, this WAS my fault...

    1. Don't list listings that have such high shipping time. Or use other shipping carriers, add more for S&H;
    2. Open warehouse(s) in Europe in countries where you ship many items, DE/UK are good places for the start, list on the UK/DE versions of eB, not COM only;
    3. Most buyers are trolls and/or retards. This was the 2nd one. Next time just don't ship the item and tell him that you do NOT want his/her money;

    Same for me. About from 10 people who buy only 1/2 will actually pay for the item.

    The non payers are not the problem. Just do a non payment dispute and list again. It's the people who act like idiots after that they pay that drives you nuts.

    I never sell anything to people on any platform (especially eBay) with zero activity and
    a musk of buyer fraud protruding from them.

    Well I think you are pretty much asking for trouble by continuing to operate in this way. If you see this many negatives, why on earth would you still do it? Just find another product that you can ship out sooner. Ebay buyers are retarded!

    1-4% return rate is normal in ecommerce... you can,t do anything to help it...
    And as reviews matter a lot you have to refund them.....
    mostly i try to talk these kinda customers in a 50% refund and they can keep the product ( most of the time thats my profit margin)

    Because my product is custom made to order and I'm not dealing with 800 competitors on eBay who're drop shipping the same thing that I'm selling. It's a huge, huge plus in the long run. I've had much less problems by telling people it will take 3 weeks to ship even if the product is ready to go. That way they're pleasantly surprised when it shows up earlier.

    It's my store policy that while I have a generous return policy if it's not my fault and if you want a refund, you have to return the product, even if the return costs me more than the cost of the product. You don't want to train your buyers that if you complain to me you can get your money back. Also making the buyer pay for return shipping cuts down on buyer's remorse returns by a lot.

    Interesting. Well then I guess you've got deal with the consistent negative feedback in that case. I had an account that was like 10 years old and had only got 1 negative feedback ever and boy did I take that pretty hard.

    One thing a guy who sells a lot more than I do told me was "Selling more takes care of everything. I probably get a neg almost every month, but when you have as many transactions as I do, you don't have to give a F."

    If the number of negs is affecting your percentage, you might try rewriting part of the ad copy to include a polite note mentioning the fact that some buyers leave negs because of the long shipping time and reiterate that the delay is because it's a custom product that needs to be completed to spec before it can be shipped.

    It's obvious from your posts that you're probably already pretty clear about the process in the description, but if you include just a little bit of an explanation about how it has affected the negs it might prompt them to feel more comfortable about it. Of course you have to be careful how to write something like that or it could make it worse instead of better.

    What sucks is that even if you can address it with prospective customers, it doesn't help with ebay itself. Especially if those customers fill out the ratings as well. That can have a negative impact on your account and ebay pretty much doesn't care if it's unjustified or not. Even if they aren't jerks a lot of time new buyers think that it's ok to just pick the average rating without understanding that ebay treats anything less than very satisfied as a negative rating.

    I experimented a lot, and I found out that I cut down a lot of complaints if I just tell people it'll take 3 weeks when they order and I'd be happy to refund and cancel if that wasn't okay.
