All keywords jumped without building extra links

Just wanted to share with the community my latest findings.

I'd had a bootstrap style site with tonnes of css animation, very slick looking. I'd been building some high quality links over the past year and never really got past page three for high competition keywords.

Recently I looked at analytics and check out where people are dropping off, it was the home page, so my bounce rate was high.

I decided to simplify the website and make it look less slick, just to provide basic information and encourage a click through to "find out more". All my keywords started shooing up within a few days and they're still going up. I checked my rank today and I'm middle of the first page for my highest competition keyword.

I changed the theme with the mentality of making it a 4 second site and to get my point across right away.

Did you also include adding the google analytics bounce rate fix?

Not for this website, no.

I did test that by the way.

Simplifying the page to make it look less slick and more basic... hmmmmm

Between hearing you say this and the result of my most recent analysis of several competitors in which the site with most basic layout yet fastest page load speeds was the winner....

I'm beginning to think page load time is even more of a factor than most of us originally thought

That, simplified website content and seamless navigation. It stands to reason that Google will be interested in this. And this share is the proof I need to know that this is what I should do on my site.

According to my opinion, Is it so??
1. you are doing perfect onpage
2. Content is HQ appropriate with your keyword.
3. Are you interact with social shares???

Perhaps reducing the slickness of it decreased page load time?
