Aliexpress Affiliate API Access

I know that Aliexpress has been pretty stingy with access to their affiliate API. anyone here has actually gotten into the program and has been granted access to the API?

if so, what did you submit to get access? a shop URL? a blog? personal website?

any guidance would be appreciated!
