Build it yourself, Unless you want a laptop. If you want a laptop go for a different brand. Alienware is overpriced. They just look reaaaaaaally cool. XD

Screw Alienware, my next laptop it going to be an MSI GT60 Workstation. Thanks to BHW!

I love Alienware M17/18x's. Great machines. They are a little overpriced for what they offer, but I view them as something slightly similar to MACs... They look cool, and it's more of a cultural item than anything. The Alienware owners belong to a certain Alienware crowd. Much like the Apple owners belong to a certain Apple crowd. Other laptops are simply just other laptops, whether they have better specs or not, simply because they don't offer that satisfying feeling of prestige for pulling one out in public, flipping it open, and knowing that the people around, that are a part of your culture -- understand you.

Have a 4 year old 5150 laptop sitting right next to me that I use every day. Fastest thing on the market when I bought it. Not so much any more. Heavy and bulky, but has outlasted 2 dell XPS laptops and an HP laptop all newer with more up to date hardware. It is not something you want to make a habit of carrying around with you. But mine has gone through a lot of wear and tear and very intensive use and is still working fine. One other thing I have never used it for gaming but have been told that's where it shines.
