Hi

a while ago, I posted about my dad's business failing. Right now i am trying to find him a supplier to buy direct from china, so he can make some profit. I have looked at dhgate and the prices there are so high.
then there is alibaba. I used this site like 7 years ago and got scammed, and never touched it again. How is this site now? Is there a feedback system? I don't see one? then how do you know which company is a scam and which is legit?
is there a reliable site where you can buy electronics direct from china?

I have read a ton about people being scammed on it, i wouldnt go near it if I were you.

Alibaba is owned by Yahoo... so its not scam company..but i dont know about how is to deal with them.

Alibaba is not a scam. It is effectively a portal where manufacturers and trading companies meet importers. You obviously need to do your own home work when dealing with anyone online, including Alibaba.

But to give it a blanket statement and label it as a scam is wrong. I am talking from several years of actual buying experience.

Im not saying the site is a scam site, however i am constantly reading about people being scammed on it. I have no doubt that there are legimate buyers and sellers on their, but if you don't know what you a doing, you may very well get scammed.

I am wondering how you can tell the difference between a legit company and a scam company? as far as i can tell, there is no feedback system. so how do you tell?
the only time i used the site was 7 years ago, i western tunioned $300 and never heard back.

When I dig around the internet on alibaba 80% is about scam lol

Its not a scam. I have dealt with lots of suppliers on there. Some obviously will scam you, but you have to get samples before you order big amounts!

Are you serious? That's like saying BHW is owned by a nice guy named Damien, so there are no scammers. Get real!

Its a 100% legit site thats populated with lots of scammers...you just have to be very diligent when dealing there. They have a gold verified member system..like most places a gold bar doesnt mean a whole lot but if somebody has been a verified member for several years then they are more inclined to want to stay in business. Look for samples and order the amount you want to order not the minimum order most sellers day dream up. If you want more protection then onlty deal with sellers who take paypal.

If you want to dip your toes in then you might start with aliexpress. Its more expensive but easier to negotiate.

Bought a new Tractor from Oriemac in China. It was second hand and delivered in pieces. $14000 lost thanks to Alibaba who did not listen or honour their Trade Assurance or Quality Guarantee. They sided with the seller.
