Alibaba seller lying?

I ordered 1000 units of certain product 30 days ago. The shipper had 30 days to ship the product, I waited and waited and when there was 20 hours left to ship, the seller magically had shipped the product - just perfectly 20 hours before the deadline.

Of course I asked for a tracking number, which the seller provided - I then put the tracking number to check it and nothing was found with that number. So I guess they really haven't sent anything yet and are just lying to me?

Yes, possibly. Raise the concern to the Alibaba support team.

Sadly many, are making use of this pandemic situation to get some free money.

You can file a dispute, and report them.

I wouldn't worry just yet. Make sure, that you're covered by the buyer protection, so the deadline to be able to start a dispute doesn't pass without you knowing. Otherwise tracking numbers don't update immediately, sometimes it can take a day or maybe more depending on the courier service they use.

China is lifting restrictions as we speak. Apparently the most affected area, Wuhan will lift travel bans on the 8th April, Hubei province sooner. Slowly everything gets back to normal there.

Can you post a link of the seller?

What payment method did you use? Did you pay all upfront?

It's 8 years old company and verified supplier, I used AliPay. The seller now sent me a picture of the box and the product which are inside and it looked legit, the tracking code is not updated yet however.

The company uses freight forwarder, so is the tracking code made by the company and then the freight forwarder takes the code to their system and I can then track it?

Usually takes a day or 2 to update. Check back on it in and if no update than proceed with dispute. Best of luck

I had problem with 1688. The worst part is that I dont speak the language. I feel I was so stupid for trusting their product descriptións on the site.

Okay, wait a few days. Alipay is safe usually. You shouldn't have a problem with getting a refund if he is scamming you.
