Attempted to check out Alibaba about a year ago and found it to be nothing but scammers.

Has anyone had a good experience with that site?

jeah really scammy site even the goldmembers with 5 years are scammers.

I've had good and bad experience over there - although everything I have ever ordered has always been delivered. I set-up an ebay store selling low priced products and I have used two companies that I found through Alibaba and they were good. But I have also bought some real crap from others, mostly when it comes to high-end popular items like fashion or gadgets related.

You should get you products from aliexpress.com, it's alibaba's version of ebay, where you can buy product directly. Basically when you buy there, Alibaba guarantees you receive your product, or you'll get a refund. Also people leave feedback about the product/seller so you know what you will be buying!

yes,not only buyer been cheated there, also, the supplier of free memerber been cheated too.
first, they allow us to regsiter for free, and after you got some customers and have spent lot of time to put information of products there, then they will delete your account ID without any information. i been cheated by them two times.i never cheated any customer there,i think they are force you to pay RMB40000/year to them for get gold memerbership.I feel so sad!!!!
so don't think every gold memerber are real manufacturers there, the gold memerber most time just cheat customers, otherwise how they will get the RMB40000 back if not cheat customer when product's margin very low????

i am in china now,if any one who need help, please tell me.specially about the CCTV cameras and Video Fiber optical products etc.

Most of the suppliers there will say yes to any order, like ANY order. Had an experience trying to buy 1kg of modafinil, and thankfully before I sent them the check I found they had 50% purity.

I think if you want to order at the scale Alibaba is known for, you should probably go to China yourself and shop around the manufacturing cities. One great thing is that every manufacturer for a particular product is usually in the same city. Excellent for shopping around and testing out different suppliers, etc.

Plenty of legit stuff on Alibaba, you just have to do your research.
Visit their factory if you are serious about your business.

As always in business, forming relationships is the key to success with Alibaba. I have a really good track record with many suppliers on there and do lots of importing through members of Aliexpress. The Aliexpress Android app is now extremely useful for browsing new products, tracking shipments, and messaging my suppliers. The real trick is negotiating with suppliers to make sure you're getting exactly what you are looking for in the quantity that you want it. Then, discuss price, shipping, and your future business going forward.

Most of my shipments arrive within 14-20 days trans-shipped to the US and I sell on eBay, Amazon, and other ecommerce sites of mine.

If you are looking to get started with Alibaba, I would first recommend starting with Aliexpress. You can even talk/chat live with your suppliers there. Try finding a product and ordering just one or two of something to make sure that you are satisfied with the quality. Then, increase your orders and negotiate your prices.
