Algorithmic penalty. advice please

I made the mistake of purchasing an Seo package from one of the top rated sellers, for a brend new website.

At first things were looking good, my site moved up in the serps quite rapidly, and settled on page 2.

At this point there were 43 links showing in search console, most of them edu links.

The seller emailed me for a review so I gave him him a good review, despite thinking I should wait a while.

Then overnight, my site dropped 80 places to sit at page ten, a few days later search console was showing 95 links, my main keyword was number one in the list of top linking text, previously it was 5th.

Naked link url is second, then another keyword, but nothing like "click here" etc is listed.

Checking the report given to me by the seller, I went through every single link, the majority were nothing but spam, really crap lnks on ubeleivably crap sites, completely unrelated to my niche, and many of them also had links to gambling/cannabis/cialis/viagra/firearms.

The High DA web 2.0s were also crap, seller claiming I am looking at the subdomain in Ahrefs.

The seller has sent me a refund, and I have asked for the links to be removed, but I dont think they will be, seller has no incentive to remove them, they were all also made on the same day.

The rank has not come back up, I am unsure how to proceed, I do not have a manual penalty, but the fact I lost 80 places overnight suggests there is an alogrithmic penalty, I have read many differing suggestions,

1) Disavow all the links and try another seo package (hopefully have better results)

2) Disavow all the links and build my own links on webs 2.0s using one of the lists from here

3) Buy another tld domain and 301 redirect this site to the new one

4) Do nothing apart from add links to directories using "click here" , "website" type anchor text to try and dilute the anchor text.

I am unsure if recovery is even possible, or of the domain will be tainted forever.

Any advice would be very much appreciated.

You can try disavowing the links and doing SEO again. But If I was at your place, I was going to change the domain. Just my opinion.

If you don't want to change the domain, pay money to seller to remove the links. Not every deal is profitable

1) top rated seller from BHW? Would like to know who this is. 2) new sites often fluctuate in rankings 3) give it few more days before you disavow them. 4) build more solid content and then add strong pbns and quality guest posts.

edit: I realised who the seller is, but op if you tell him to remove the links he’ll do so and no need to pay anything. If he doesn’t do that contact BHW support theyll help you

5) get an expired domain and start again or keep building links for this new site until it stops dancing

Ya, just like Mr Positive said, ask the seller to remove the links and if he doesn't, contact mods.

Personally never had noticeable positive results from disavowing. Never had manual action either, though I'm getting some pretty shitty stuff pointing at my main site all the time. I'd try to get them removed but I say just focus on solid SEO work and it'll go up. Or ditch it and get a nice domain to start with as already said, if you absolutely can't rank.

I would not remove them as would look fishier, instead, I would continue to publish articles at least 3 times a week, trying to get some organic traffic and build links very slow but proper ones as niche related guest posts.

You buy shit, soon or later the smell will come to the surface, sorry, but this is the reality.

How long ago did you buy these links, could be that your ranking is just dancing, don't expect stable rankings in the first view months for a fresh domain

If it is a new domain wait for some more time. And add the fresh content continuously, try to disavow the low-quality links also build the backlinks from a high authority site.

If the site isn't that old, I'd start again on a fresh domain. Don't redirect from the old one.

You could spend a long time trying to right the old site, particularly if it was a diversity service that you bought (given your post history, its easy to see which). That effort might be better spent on a new site.

Disavowing does work, but to get it to work you need to get Google to recrawl all the disavowed links, which isn't always easy.

One reason for the drop in rankings might not be that you've been algorithmically filtered but rather that Google is now ignoring all those spammier links.
