Alexa...what good is it?

From what i've read, Alexa Ratings are based on Data comprised of surfers who "have" the Alexa Toolbar Installed on their machine.

1. What good is this Data?

2. Is Alexa able to determine approximately how many people actually visit a Site on a Given Day?

3. I know that they give you an "Estimated percentage of global internet users who visit"...but WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?

Is there any websites out there that can estimate (with reasonable acutacy the number of visitors per day?

1. Yes it is good.

2. Yes and No. Because it is only a percentile of users.... who use the Alexa Toolbar... or partner tools...

3. It say what he have to say no ?

Alexa is not very accurate, but it is one of the better estimations out there.

I think that the more traffic a given site has the more accurate the Alexa rating becomes.

Your Alexa ranking isn't really all that important. For low traffic sites it is easy for people to manipulate the ranking when they are trying to sell a site by buying a bunch of worthless hits.

Alexa...what good is it?
