A recent report claims that by 2030, AI will be advanced enough to write complex software without any human intervention. Does this mean coding jobs will finally disappear? Could we see entire tech teams replaced by algorithms?

The idea sounds wild, but considering how fast AI is evolving, it is not entirely impossible. Maybe in a few years, we will be debugging lines of code written by a machine while sipping coffee, wondering what we actually used to do.

What do you think will AI really take over coding, or is this just hype?

AI is getting very good at generating and refactoring code, but it still can’t own problem definition, system design, risk trade-offs, data assumptions, security, product constraints, or debugging in messy real environments and that’s where most real engineering value actually sits

Haha... it's coming for literally everyone though not just devs

I literally saw a video a few hours ago where the tool built out an exact functional site side by side with the image or template you input and it created the website in a matter of mins

Absolutely, that is the key point. AI can handle repetitive coding and refactoring, but the real engineering work is deciding what to build, designing the system, managing trade-offs, and solving messy problems in the real world. Those require judgment, experience, and context, things AI cannot fully replicate yet.

Crazy but true. AI is moving fast, and it is not just coding; it is touching design, content, and even full product builds. Seeing a full website built in minutes from just an image really shows how quickly the landscape is changing. :)

It can't completely replace human coders, but yeah, it will most definitely replace 70-75%. The ripple effect will be far more dangerous for other sectors if jobs are lost in one sector. We're heading towards uncertain times.

True. While it may not fully replace human coders, automating 70-75% of tasks will definitely change the landscape. The ripple effect on other sectors is a valid concern. We are indeed moving toward an era where staying adaptable is more important than ever.

Exactly, the impact will go beyond just tech. Even if AI does not replace every coder, the knock-on effects on related industries and job markets could be massive. It is going to be a challenging period, and we will need to adapt fast.

Absolutely. Even partial automation at that scale will shift expectations, workflows, and job roles across multiple industries. Adaptability and continuous learning will be the key to staying relevant in this changing environment.
Give it 2 years max. It's already starting.
No doubt. The pace is accelerating, and in just a couple of years, we could see a very different landscape for tech and beyond. The question is who adapts fast enough to stay ahead.
doomsday: 2028 i think. I believe that 66% of all programmers will lose their jobs in the next 2 years.
That is a bold prediction, but not entirely unrealistic. If AI adoption keeps accelerating, a large portion of routine coding work could disappear quickly. The real challenge will be how the workforce pivots to higher-level tasks that AI cannot handle yet.

It IS probable but I believe it will take more than 5 years for AI to do that. I mean AI will probably be ready to do that by 2036.

That sounds more realistic to me. The technology might advance quickly, but real-world adoption usually takes longer. Companies need time to trust the tools, change workflows, and rebuild entire systems around AI. So even if the capability arrives earlier, the full impact on jobs will likely roll out gradually over many years.

yes. 100%

Humans will evolve to live with AI and leverage it for doing more cool stuff
I agree. Humans will adapt and learn how to use AI as a tool. Those who leverage it well will have a big advantage.

This is scary, but I believe we are all going to adapt and get used to it. As much as AI will get smarter and all, it will still require expert's input and contribution. Will it reduce man power? Yes. But I dont think that scary phase will be anytime soon, not 2030.

I think that is a balanced view. AI will definitely reduce some roles, but it will still need skilled people to guide it, check it, and apply it in real situations. Like most technologies, people will adapt over time, and new roles will likely appear as well.

AI will definitely help write more code, but I don’t think it will fully replace developers. Someone still needs to plan the system, check the output, fix problems, and make sure everything actually works. Most likely AI will just become another tool that developers use.
