AI is creating idiots

AI helped me learn a lot about certain skills. It is so good, especially Deepseek gives you some strong input on things you want to know.
These things I would probably not learn if I visited google. AI bots are full of knowledge if you know how to use them.
And I think that the biggest progress will see those who use these tools to the max.

AI is good but this will finish the jobs to do all things automate and this bad or next generation is fully depended on AI.

AI can be very useful to perform repetitive tasks, it's a time saver, the problems start when people want to use it as a brain replacement

can you give example of 1-2 skills that you've learned? Also, how can you tell that what the AI is teaching you is accurate?

nowadays yeah...

But in the beginnings (1999 until late 2000s or so) google have been really good and have genuinely cared about serving the right answers to the right people.

you mean, typing a 500 word prompt just so the AI can give me a 300 word piece of content? At that point the AI is using you for content, not the other way around

The AI doesn't improve any of your important skills, and it doesn't improve your knowledge either since on some topics it's very biased...

You can learn any skill you want. It is up to you to decide. These bots are full of useful data, esoteric knowledge that very few people know and if you prompt well, you can use this as an advantage.

Two things.

I went back to basics and started (once again) to use developer manuals and documentation. Spend time going through actual downloaded files finding for the docs on the thing you're doing. Googling was already bad for you but you sleepwalk into it without noticing anything. With AI it becomes obvious how you keep coming back for increasingly simpler stuff. It's just there in the third tab. Got to catch that.

AI makes you stupid if you need to use it for the most basic things possible because that means that you are so lazy you don't even want to think.
But using it proactively to learn can be a very efficient tool. I can't even explain how many times I found texts intentionally designed to be hard to read and from which I could barely understand anything, so I use AI to heavily simplify until I get what they are talking about. Works wonders.

Interesting perspective! I do agree that over-reliance on AI tools can make people mentally lazy if we're not careful. I think AI is a useful assistant, but definitely shouldn't replace critical thinking. Thanks for sharing the video, I'll give it a watch.

I am lazy by nature and yet, I never use AI. Does this mean that I'm not / not getting stupid? And a lot of people are using the AI, so does this mean they're lazy and / or stupid already?

how about the texts were "intentionally designed to be hard to read" (as you put it) so that the powers that ought not to be force people into AI reliance? Could this be possible, or is it just my wild imagination?

Also, how can you tell that what the AI serves you is accurate information since the AI is programmed and maintained by a (almost guaranteed) biased organization of people with their own agenda?

What if all of the history books are getting rewritten / have gotten rewritten and by the time the new generation of schoolers start learning history the only "valid" source of information (the AI most likely) tells the kids that the mustached Austrian had been a hero instead of a villain? How do you use your brain to research what doesn't exist anymore and when people are so lazy that they rely on Wikipedia, the AI, and all other tools of global propaganda that are in the hands of those that don't want you to know the truth?

You can use your brain to do research, sure! But where are you going to get the truth from when all of the sources of knowledge are under strict control and full rewriting to reflect the agenda of the criminals?

Again, so many questions, yet so few unbiased resources to learn the truth from. And the more you use it the worse it becomes for us, the common people..

AI has no brain, and shouldn't be doing the human thinking. A 5 day old kid is more intelligent than an AI, yet nobody holds any consistent valuable emotional connection with them, watch how everyone is closely tied to the machines, interpreters, and translators, all of them slow the human brain towards learning the truth or discover what things were in the past. The brains that built calculators are no longer calculative.

that's one of my biggest problem with today's society: scientists serve the money and the financial system, and this is not normal in any normal civilization since a human's important values are different. You could be the richest man in the world, but if you're left in the desert with all of your financial wealth you will still die like a rat (of course, don't be a smartass and tell me that you'll call your slaves to come rescue you, or you'll get in your personal airplane and leave the desert, etc... I was just making the point that in life there are more important things than money, and scientists should know this better than anyone and act upon this universal truth)

Also, the rain example you've given above is not the best example you could give to illustrate the point because rain is arguably my favorite type of weather, so I find it hard to relate to your example since I do love rain (ok, not continuous and heavy rain, I obviously don't like being flooded or drown, but small rain that lasts for a few days every month... bring it!)

I don't recall to have ever asked myself this, but I just did it now, and the answer I came up with is 2-fold I think...

First (and most importantly) we are not perfect beings, therefore we don't like being held responsible / shown our true faces, therefore we blame it on other things / beings because it's more convenient so it takes the responsibility off our shoulders

And secondly, knowledge is infinite, and - since we can never know everything - it's more convenient to find excuses for our lack of knowledge than to make the hard task of thinking. Thinking deeply / thoroughly about something is painful (physically I mean) for the brain, so I can see why we choose to blame others instead of finding the explanations ourselves.

So yeah, these are the 2 main reasons that I can think of, I am pretty sure that if I think harder I will find more reasons, but I'm not gonna think harder because it hurts ... And also because I've already made my point, so nothing more to see here for now
