Hey! I'm surprised to see AI in the black hat section... Can anyone shed some light? What is it about AI that makes it black hat???

Well, it depends. If you use AI to generate contents and spam post in your website then its blackhat whereas if you use it to make an intelligent chatbot for your website it's not. It's just an example there are lots of use of AI in marketing that can be both whitehat and blackhat.
 
You teach the AI to rank you. Send it signals that a real ranking site does. Catch the drift?
 
AI can be blackhat and I think there are many persons that will use AI for blackhat :)

Someone invented a AI bot that's able to predict the volatility of certain digital coins. Worth checking out.
 
It depends what the AI is doing. AI is one of those catch-all phrases that can mean a lot of different things.

I work fpr an agency that does SEO for Fortune 500's and we use AI all day every day. It's definitely not all black hat. There are plenty of legit AI SEO approaches / products out there and some work extremely well (although not in all cases, for all types of clients.)

OTOH, I think AI powered article spinners and AI powered forum posters would probably be considered black hat. And obviously anything that's using AI for negative SEO would be considered 100% black hat.

can not agree with you more the most important is how you want it to be.
 
"Artificial intelligence" is neutral by definition, just like our own cognitive processes are neutral.
What is blackhat and what isn't depends on the ethical framework sorrounding the term. If it refers to doing something that is against the law then almost nothing on this forum can be considered blackhat. If you consider anything blackhat, that goes against the law of google, then even "whitehat" is not really white since google only wants you to produce free content for them to exploit without compensation.
 
AI going to rule in another two year. Can't be considered as blackhat

Could you share with us in which part of SEO, AI can be used as a white hat method. I'm curious, the only AI I've heard was about content creation.

Sure.

We use a bunch of semantic indexing software to rank content marketing articles up very quickly. We've had pretty awesome results with both Clearscope and Wordmetrics on that front. Both are really stupidly simple, but they work.

We use Cortex AI for social media engagement. It helps us schedule social media posting and zero in on which of our posts are getting the most traction. It also does backwards analysis to figure out trends in our social media posts so we know what kinds of posts to do more of in the future.

We use Pave AI to analyze our Analytics and create actionable content marketing reports. I'm not sure of what else it does, but we use it kind of like Analytics Insights on steroids -- which clients like.

We also use AI for building chatbots. For that we use Haptik. (Not something I know much about, but I know results have been really good because we're hiring in that area).

I'm sure we use more than that.... but those are the ones I can name offhand. We spend a sh*t ton on tools, but most of them create billing opportunities so they actually become profit centers. (eg: We can sell AI optimized content development as a premium service, etc.).

(I'd put all of those things firmly in the white hat camp.)

Thanks a lot for sharing those informations, and definitely, those tools are used by websites ranking in very competitive niches such as SEO. I've just found a testimonial from the founder of Backlinko, and this guy always rank first when you type "backlink" in Google.

It looks AI is becoming a must-have in SEO & Global Digital Marketing

Simply put AI is not Blackhat in itself as it can be used for Whitehat as well. How someone chooses to use it makes it black hat.

Now to make things more interesting say you made an AI that chooses to use blackhat techniques or white hat techniques depending on what is the most efficient in terms of producing results.
Is the creator of the AI considered blackhat? or is the AI blackhat? If you think about it there are some loopholes there.
 
If AI can lead to spam stuff then for sure its a BLACK haT Section stuff
1) Write Spammy Content
2) Build Spammy Link
3) Enagage with spammy comments
 
AI gives you certain capabilities now whether you use it for black or white hat purposes that's up to you.
