yes, Pinterest is banning accounts and websites that overuse AI-generated images.
In 2025, this was a goldmine, but now things have changed—you need to find “simpler” ways to drive sales on your website without compromising your Pinterest account.

I think they are banning slop content mainly. It's only normal for some adequate content to go down as well too...

I've noticed Pinterest is cracking down harder on images that look too AI-driven. I don't know if it's shadowbanning, but they're reaching fewer people. I think the "See Less AI" option has a big impact. If you want your AI-driven images to perform well, try to make them look more natural. I don't know what will happen in 2026, but right now, the key is making sure your AI-driven images look good on Pinterest.

From my personal experience, Pinterest doesn't completely block AI, but they are empowering users to filter their feeds. If your AI content doesn't provide real value to viewers, the See Less AI filter will be the biggest barrier to your reach. The advice is to carefully edit or incorporate factual elements to maintain credibility.

Pinterest is now closer to search + save behavior optimization than pure image quality. If saves and outbound clicks are weak, people call it shadowban, but it’s usually just distribution decay after bad first-batch engagement. Pins that still look obviously AI usually die from low saves and reduced eligible audience pools.

In Pinterest, AI content is actually allowed. However, if it is low-quality / generic or spammy in nature, such AI content will be labeled and even hidden by user filters, and also sometimes penalized in search rankings within Pinterest.

AI still works but If it looks like Midjourney prompt, post, repeat, it’s dead on arrival.

Yes banning accounts due to their AI pictures. I suggest editing your pictures with Canva before you use them in order to avoid getting shadow or permanently banned.

yeah it's honestly a mix of both. they still shadowban if you are bulk spamming low effort ai slop, but that new 2026 'see less ai' tuner is what is really tanking reach right now. users are actively toggling ai off in their settings for niches like fashion and art, so even if your ai pins are high quality and don't get banned, the algorithm is just hiding them from normal feeds anyway.
