AI Content Concern

@tiiberius @BlackHatSaint0

It was the core update as you rightly mention, but this core update incorporated and was mainly based on content / HCU - https://www.seroundtable.com/google-december-2024-core-update-volatility-38581.html

And taking a step back, it makes sense. I think a lot of our content had been focused on quickly rewriting & trying to pump out as many articles as possible, specifically for local pages as an example. Even our core pages just seem rehashed versions of each other, and other search results. Our focus since then has been to incorporate our own unique statistics, and actually improve these significantly from a human perspective, whilst also killing anything we deem to be poor quality (and never really generated anything).

Our ranking drop correlated heavily with this, we've tanked to the point we're really at the base line of rankings now. From roughly 600-700 visits a day, to 100 on a good day.

It is true, they encompass HCU principles as Core updates focus on content heavily.

But they touch much more.

My question was whether people knew of or had used AI content detectors and could recommend any?

Most people I know and myself, who have tried them, have bad experience.

They give many false positives.

I cannot in good faith recommend you any.

AI content could be one reason, but may not the major one, it's also up to what type of AI content is.
I've been in 3 AI content sites, 7 sites content generated by human.
3 AI sites have very good clicks/impressions, none of them got hit. 1 of them got 700K impressions in 3 days by content specifically AI generated for the special occasion (new year).
On the other hand, 1 of the site which content generated by human, got hit, still under very slowly recovery in the past 2+ month. All content and pages are original generated...

So, this December update confuses me a lot. As in my another post mentions, some site patently AI generated for SEO is ranking very very good. (https://www.blackhatworld.com/seo/how-these-ai-site-get-top-rank-discuss.1684539/)

This new hcu algo update and nobody exactly knows what's about it?

My thoughs are today;
Does google destroy specific niches site no matter if they are affiliate sites or not?
Does google destroy only sites with AI content?
Or google destroys only sites who using mediavine ads?

Google favours only short branding name (domains) sites who have google adsense on it, like you offering your services but you have a separate space on your site with google ads?

Yesterday I search in google for business coach/marketing coach sites , but heck not many business or marketing coach sites coming up, are they destroyed by the hcu algo ? I dont't know- what do you think?

The new hcu update is not about what cms you use too, because millions of people using same theme cms= wordpress. Yes you should have clean code. It looks like google sends the traffic to their friends who are in wef lobby organization too, all these big guys and media news sites.
These big boys affiliate sites like Wirecutter too, are high quality sites, not only the content, the wholse website structure. Big affiliate sites who have a team, who buying the products first and review them with face in cam + have comments on their site (social signal).

Further, it looks like the old keywords based seo content is out of race, these big high quality site using topics (entities) not keywords with low KD or from adwords planner tool, knowledge topics.

All these big sites are companies they doing this for profit- to make money. But google told us when you create content only to make money you are a scammer, right?

Better use a keyword only 1x time in the content title and the rest the content is more informational / educational showing solutions- the content should not be around the keyword.
The interesting thing is, websites from authors who have written books are not got a google hcu hit ! Think about it.

When you doing server and webhosting reviews or digital tools revies, then showing a video how use this tool (with a free trial to have access to the tool) and have good informational /educational articles around this topic , this would be high quality. Write like an author for people. Ai can do that with the right prompt. Try that with self hositng videos +content under that video with video schema- so you will rank with your selfhost videos in google.

At least a two fold content strategy comes to my mind; have content on your own site, then a summary-different written content about it with different title on a good ranking parasite , so when you good a google hit, but your parasites will still rank high so you get traffic to your main site!

Make your site in high quality, different than your competitors write like an author - for people , different would be have a space with google ads, have your self host videos with conten ton it (use video schema) have the keyword only 1x times in the content title, write about the solution not the keyword itself, write it in informational/educational style but have personal human touch in your content.

Forget SEO experts, ask one of them "how I get multiple serp listings like bloomberg" I bet they not know the answer!

That's are my ideas today.
Dear people stay awake and strong and have a nice day!

you are not alone, many sites have fallen after december, you need to check your content - usually it helps, i just rewrote ai-content and the website revived a bit

As you mentioned, AI content "could be ONE of the reasons" but that "MAY NOT be the ONLY reason"
Google doesn’t penalize AI content just for being AI
It also penalizes Unhelpful, Generic, Low Quality content, whether written by AI or a HUMAN.

AI content is not the only one reason to get a HCU hit by google,- here some interesting deeper insights about this:

This problem I see with EEAT , show experience especial as affiliate with this new google HCU, these sites in google's eyes are poor quality to google HCU. Not sites like Andrew Huberman who is a university degree Professor (!) as example, or Tim Robbins, or Neil Patel. Another good examples are sethgodin with his blog domain and Tim Ferris who was a NY Times journalist years ago. Both can proof their experience.

What is when google wants proof of your experience, then what ? Do you have certificate of your profession, a degree whatsoever?
Here this gives you a good insight how google fight against fake EEAT websites: https://www.websitebuilderexpert.com/news/google-fake-eeat-content/

Happy Monday !
as i understood - its mainly for YMYL niches to avoid scam

Hell ya, this sentence means that google HCU destroyed the whole Affiliate industry which is not the case.
Imagine your hobby is hiking, you making videos when you hiking in the nature 3-5 minutes, telling ho whealthy that is, for you rbody and mind or buyign some outdoor products from amazon , you have this product with you outdoort, making a video why this product is helpful, etc, etc, etc then in EEAT you can say my hobby is hiking, here you show your "expertise" -you will not get a google hcu punishment.

A little bit more complicate is it when you offering consulting, coaching, etc,etc.....here oyu have a website and EEAT like ;
"I'm the founder of this site "category king name here " I blogging about and telling about my experiences.....

I hope you get the idea.
Not write something like: "I worked as consultant the last 5 years with some clients in a europe company and it was fascinating to meet different interesting people....blablablba and make my certificate at the europe business school in swiss" something like that , who knows when google on a wonderful bright day wants that certificate from you, then what?

When possible have a google GMB profile or when you want to hiode your address, have a good Linkedin expertise profile.

Good evening -it' snight here in germany have a good night sleep!
Be a little bit careful I hope you get the EEAT idea.

There are out there enough simple one page affiliate sites with a tool and 2-3 affilate ads banner, and a little bit of content one single page without any EEAT, they not got a HCU hit ?

This site (example) got a hard HCU hit too, but for me it has good natural EEAT look at it: mynewmicrophone.com/
It has a good example of EEAT why this site got a HCU Hit ? It's a hobby site is this the main reason?
This would mean make a legal hustle as blogger with your blog is not anymore allowed with the HCU update?
Not make any sense for me.

Websites with not enough engagement got HCU Hit too, but tell me , how can your site have an high engagement rate like reddit, medium, quora, linkedin....? No it's not possible, the only way would be you have a good number of comments on your site with tools like zemanta. Or you write 1-2 months good post on twitter,FB personal pages, linekdin before you publish your site and add them as a frame to your wordpress site, showing that you have some social signals / engagements , I not have any other ideas how improve engagement on your website. Ah moment, yes have a low bounce rate - make users stay long on your site- more you can not do.

Another interesting deep insights about sites who got a HCU Hit: https://www.hobo-web.co.uk/the-google-hcu-helpful-content-update-helpfulness/

Better today you be only active on social media, linkedin, twitter and FB personal page, have a single one page landing page to catch email sign ups- build a list is the more subtle way to get into business without have a website that can crushed by HCU ?
