A rare niche can actually be a great place to build an AI project, mostly because you’re not fighting with 500 other tools doing the exact same thing. Less noise, easier to position, easier to learn what users actually want.
Whether it goes under scrutiny or not usually has more to do with how you use AI than with the niche itself. Platforms don’t really care if you’re using AI behind the scenes, they care if you’re spamming, misleading users, or pumping out low-value stuff at scale. Do that and yeah, you’ll get attention, but not the good kind.
If AI is just a tool to make something genuinely useful faster or better, most of the time nobody is coming after you with a pitchfork. The real danger zone is building something that depends on shortcuts instead of solving an actual problem, because those setups always work… until they don’t.
From a business point of view, rare niches are actually nice because you can test, fail, fix and iterate before the whole world shows up. By the time competition arrives, you already know what you’re doing and they’re still guessing.
So yeah, rare niche plus AI can be a solid combo, just don’t try to speedrun your way into problems and you’ll probably sleep better at night.
