Ahrefs vs semrush

I am looking to buy one of these tools.
My main usage would be researching multiple expired domains SEO scores and analyzing competition.
One thing that bugs me is that for basic subscription of about $130 per month you get only 5 so called projects on each
of those tools. That would be a problem since 5 projects = 5 websites to analyze and that just way to little, I would use that quota in a day.
I used ahrefs way back and I don't remember such strict restrictions on usage, iirc.

What tool would you recommend for my usage type?

yeah, Ahrefs have changed their pricing structure...

For competition analysis / backlink analysis Ahrefs is better, for traffic + keyword analysis I've heard that Semrush is better. So, probably in your case, you want Ahrefs...
 
I've always found Ahrefs to be a better fit for me but their high prices are hard to justify sometimes.

If you are looking at domains to buy, you could probably check for cleanliness with something like Majestic, it is quick and far cheaper. For getting a list of backlinks Majestic will do the job and allow you to check how good they are.
 
Ahrefs is better in my opinion. but Ahrefs is also far expensive than others. you should check majestic, this might suits you.

For bulk expired domain research and competitor analysis, Ahrefs and SEMrush are great, but their project limits are restrictive. I’d recommend SEO PowerSuite (one-time fee, no project limits) or Majestic (better for backlink analysis). If budget isn’t an issue, Ahrefs Advanced Plan ($399/month) offers 100 projects. Otherwise, try Scrapebox for bulk domain analysis.
 
Ahrefs is the best choice for expired domains and competitor analysis due to its robust backlink database and flexible usage limits. SEMrush is also powerful but has stricter project restrictions. Moz is good but not as strong for expired domains. If project limits are a major concern, consider SEO PowerSuite, which has no restrictions on the number of projects. Group buys are another cost-effective option, though unofficial.
 
I have tools I use from Indian guys semrush, I pay monthly, it can research 10 per account, and is more than 5 account in 1
 
I used to have both Ahrefs and SEMRush, couldn't find a single thing Ahrefs is better at.
 
Ahrefs is very strict with that quota limit. They have kind of monopoly and thus they are charging so much premium.
 
You can go with Ahrefs. It is a good one to analyze the backlinks and the competition. If you are planning to add more projects in the future you can upgrade the agency plan.
 
If you are tight on budget, semrush will be better choice. BHW has partnership with them, you can use that link for discounts.

Ahrefs would be perfect for that Imo, a lot of Ahrefs features you can use to do that kind of research
 
Ahrefs is better for backlink analysis and expired domain research.

Semrush would be the best choice for you.

I can suggest you to buy Ahrefs if you have a good budget.
 
a semrush group buy is more than enough.
