Neither...I would get an SEOmoz Pro account. It has a keyword tracking, link data, campaign manager, and a bunch of awesome other stuff. It's $99 a month but they do have a 30-day free trial.
ahrefs is slicker and has a better interface and looks far prettier. However once you get used to Majestic I think it gives far more data but it is expensive and annoying at first.
I bet both rubbed their hands when yahoo site explorer eventually stopped.
Ahrefs is better than Majestic SEO I think. If you do a raw export you have no limits on links whereas Majestic SEO only gives you like 1500 or 2500 links or something like that (cant remember exactly) so you get way more links with Ahrefs, and Ahrefs is also cheaper if i remember correctly
Personally though I think SEO Spyglass is better than both. It's a one-time payment and gives more detailed data
what I like about ahrefs is you can put a url in and it tells you the KW's the site is ranking for without having to put them in like other tools. It makes not having a google account a smaller deal. One downside is that it updates slowly, I had a site on page 1 and it was showing like the 60th position on ahrefs for the longest time. It finally has caught up however.
I use majestic, its the best in my opinion. My only biggest gripe is the hourly report limits they impose. On the entry level paid plan you can only get 10 reports per hour.
