Hello BHW, i have a question.

How does Ahrefs estimate the traffic you get by country? Is it because of the google domain (com; com.au; com.br; ca; pl; no) where your page/ article ranks?

I don't think it is about the domain extension. Because ".com" is widely known and many country-specific websites are running on ".com" or ".net"

So, it won't give a clear idea about exact traffic. Also, Ahrefs also shows keyword search volume by country; this would not have been possible if it was about your domain extension.

I found this article (if it helps):

Ahrefs says:

How it’s calculated:
  1. We find all the keywords for which your target ranks in the top 100 organic search results.
  2. We estimate how much traffic your target gets from each of those keywords, based on its ranking position and our estimated CTR for that position.
  3. We add up all these numbers.

Not the websites domain, the domain of GOOGLE where the keyword ranks.

If I search on google.com.au for cars and I click on your article, will Ahrefs count that as 1 visit from Australia?

If I search on google.no for cars and I click on your article, will Ahrefs count that as 1 visit from Norway?

To spice things up:

If i have an Germany IP and i click on your car article on google.com.au, Google analytics will show one visit from Germany, Ahrefs will show one visit from Australia?

IMHO it will show the visit from Germany, not from Australia.
