Both are good in each of their domains.

Ahref is best for backlinks and keyword research.

SEM rush is overall tool however, lot weaker then ahref in terms of web data.

I find SEMRush more useful when doing competitor analysis. For backlinks, Ahrefs is the best.

Both are best for different purposes. In my side ahrefs has lots of option for content audit and technical SEO audit. And semrush pricing is competitive low from ahrefs.
