So I was looking into a report provided by one of the members here https://ahrefs.com/site-explorer/ba...ialfansgeek.com/20-04-2013/20-04-2013/all-all. I am curious what does "Lost" backlinks mean? How do we lose backlinks? And if so, based on that chart, it seems like its losing 50+ links each day on average, how did that happen?

You lose links when you build backlinks, it get indexed, went live and later on the site admin removed the links for spammy reasons e.t.c.
Every one is practically fighting this cause in order to keep the originality of their site and avoid Google penalty.
What you should do is find top good sites, publish original content and anchor links like you would do for traffic and conversion, that way they won't have a choice but to leave your link on permanently.

In the chart it has 57 lost backlinks!
So in the tab Lost it show 2 backlinks!

It means the backlinks were present on those pages at some time in the past but when the robots crawled them again they were not present anymore. Simply "lost".Could have been deleted as well.

This happens naturally all of the time. Here's an example of a "lost" link.
Ahrefs crawls a wordpress site with a link to your website. It sees that it's on the homepage of the domain when the link was crawled. As more posts go on that homepage link goes to page 2, page 3, or even deeper. Then when they revisit that site they see that the homepage link is gone and thus marked as lost. Then they crawl the internal pages and see the link and that's a new "added" link.
This happens to the extreme because of category pages, sidebar comment widgets, and much more. It's just how it works.

Alright, I explain you much deeply. I watch the lost backlinks listed by ahrefs and locate one of the lost backlink from ahrefs lost backlink list. Finally i check the backlink for that backlink manually which is presented or not and got the result that my link is present in that lost backlink site. So, please let me know clearly how the lost backlink is calculated by ahrefs.
Note: I check the link by search terms in that site and find out the external link is presented which is targeted to my site.

oh this is the matter of worry for me. on ahref my site too showed many lost backlinks. Now i would be trying to research a bit about it and will answer soon.

For my case it's even stranger :
I built a backlink from my pbn site to my money site, and on Majestic it was seen. But after 1 or 2 weeks it is shown as "DELETED" (when I put my mouse on the word "deleted", it shows "timeout"). How can this backlink be shown as "Deleted" if it's not ???
I mean, it's my website so I know it's live... So freaking weird!
