Ahrefs and Semrush show different backlink results

Hey,

When I check backlinks of the same domain using Ahrefs and Semrush, the results are WAY different.

Ahrefs show 133 backlinks and 39 referring domains.

Semrush show 2.8k backlinks and 109 referring domains.

Which one is correct? It's a huge difference. Even when cross referencing domains from Ahrefs to Semrush or vise versa, a lot of the time I can't find them.

Am I doing something wrong?

That's odd because usually Ahrefs finds more backlinks.

It really depends, they show different results.
In my case:
Ahrefs - 250 backlinks
Semrush - 480 backlinks
Moz - 211 backlinks
Most of the time i don't look at backlinks but at reffering domains.

For backlinks go with ahrefs but since you’re getting such a huge difference export them, and see if it’s multiple domain links coming again and again

Everyone says Ahrefs finds more links. But when I compare my websites, Semrush always shows me the more precise number of RD.

I also compared 100 different domains in my niche and noticed that Semrush showed often more links (RD).

More website blocked ahref for their Spiders are too busy

For me i think Both are correct since those service have different bot to crawl link. You could see the random link to check if the link is alive or not. Use both to see the bl profile.

Thanks for all your answers. I think I'll stick to Ahrefs as seems to be more accurate when comparing to other tools. Will also just look at referring domains.
