aged domain name

i recently purchased a domain that i thought was never registered before. but when i looked on the internet archive, it turns out that the domain was registered before in 2001. what does it mean. will google treat it as a new domain or as an aged domain?

I believe Google will treat it as a dropped domain. If it wasn't spammed/abused then there is no reason to worry and you should be safe to use it.

That domain might be bought before and then it is left without renew. And you bought the domain. If the domain is not blacklisted or penalized by google, you are safe. Otherwise, it's not gonna be an use.
