My question is in regard to how many words your content should be on a page you are trying to rank on Google for,

I've read everything from 425(Traffic Travis) to over a 1,000 words is ideal.

Lets get a general consensus of what the ideal word count is for 2012.

I think as long as the content is good, containing a lot of similes relevant to the topic you're aiming at, the word count shouldn't matter. Obviously the more in depth it is, the better (for the most part).

No bro it's the average of all my highest ranking sites. Around that number works best for me.

It really depends. I have pages with less than 400 words and they rank quite well. But I find the most ideal is around 700 to 900 words based on my own experiences. The content are not too long to bore readers and not too short for the search engines. However, it also depends on the quality of the content. A well written and highly SEO optimized 400 words article can easily beats the sh*t out of a garbage 1000 words article. But then you'll never know what Google is up to.
