age of web page?

Hi guys

How can I find out the page of when a webpage was created?

Some guy from a website says that I am using one of this images (even though the watermark is completely different to the url), he says its fine but wants a do-follow link back to his site.

I was looking at his site and its no fortune500, just a simple site like mine. So my idea is to find out if he uploaded the image before I did. I just stole the image from google images.

Its a very clever backlinking strategy if he's faking it!

I don't know about him, but I don't fake it. When someone uses my images, I get a link or they drop the image. I made yahoo drop an image of mine because they got pissy about it.

You know the image isn't yours, just give him the link, and get a a statement that you "non exclusive, worldwide rights" in exchange for the link.

Or use another image.

yeah but its an image I have seen a few times on different sites in the same niche. Its not obvious that its defiantly his.

I don't mind giving him a link but I don't want to get hustled in giving him a free link if I don't need to.

I'd say it's legit. Finding people who've stolen your images and contacting them one by one would be an extremely time consuming link building method. Can't imagine anyone doing that.

come guys, this is meant to be a forum for advanced internet users!

Try https://www.tineye.com/. it throws up 28 locations and 6 different domain names where this particular image is being shown. That took 1 minute to search, would take another 15 minutes to send the same email to all 6 websites.

Google image search is also another way to quickly find the same image using a bit of common sense.

And as I say, the domain name on the image is completely different to the domain this guy is referring too. I've done some quick research and the two sites are not connected at all.

So anyway, does anyone know a way to determine the age of a webpage?

This isn't that hard dudes. Right click the image and do reverse image search. Then find all the pages with that image and put that url into the way back machine. If the way back machine has archived that page you can see what images were being used and also the date.
