Hey guys

I have a EU region website which is using Ezoic ads, and manager said I have to implement the so called GDPR consent, after I implemented the Quantcast (for this job), I can see my earnings drop 50%, well, when using adsense, I think it is not mandatory to show a popup right? And if I keep using this popup shit, its better just use adsense, because the margins Ezoic gives over adsense now are wiped out because of this god damn thing.

Any tips or thoughts? Please help lol

Is it compulsory you implement the pop up once the person visit your website or he scrolls down or do some action?

Change the way you show GDPR.

I use a plugin that displays the consent box at the bottom, full width. If the user doesn't accept it, he can still scroll through the website, while the notification is displaying.

It shouldn't be a condition to let users on your website. Consider it more as a notification, you don't need to force it.

Good question, but I dunno. To be honest, I don't care about the shit, but since manager asks this, but now its really frustrated to keep doing this, since the earning will drop at least 50%.

I don't know how others in EU deal with this GDPR shit.

Yeah, now I am really frustrated to deal with this. If keep using this Quantcast choice popup thing, then everything is meaningless, earning will tank a lot, I don't think this should be the right method to implement this to users, btw, my website does not collect any information about users, I even closed the comments, forms, that means, users can only browser my websites, I just show them adsense (now Ezoic), so in such a case, I really don't think GDPR is a serious issue, but yeah, I don't know the legal things.

Btw, You also have EU sites right? Could you tell me which plugin you use and settings? And what text you show them, could you give me a copy?

I use a plugin

I guess you are using that Cookieyes plugin, I just finished their video, seems easy and powerful! I will try to use it when I get back to home, thanks for the tips.

The GDPR consent is mandatory by law, on any website anytime a visitor from an EU country lands on it. It doesn't matter if you show Adsense, Ezoic ads, or no ads at all.
As long as you collect any cookies--and it is hard to find a website that does not collect a single cookie :), you have to show to consent popup.

Few things to remember before you do something:
1. 99% of people just click "continue with recommended cookies", so in fact showing the popup should have negligible effect on your ad earnings. Remember that Ezoic has very technical settings. Maybe you enabled it and didn't clear the cache or clicked something else and it resulted in the earnings drop.

2. Though mandatory by law, I've never heard about any smaller player getting a penalty for not showing this consent tab. So if you do not like to show it for any reason and your Ezoic manager is OK with that, you do not really have yo worry.

3. The popup from Ezoic offers to their users is actually pretty decent, and something people are used to seeing online. If you decide to show the popup (or have to due to Ezoic), I'd go with the default solution from them. No need to add plugin from third party.

Hope this helps, let us know how it ended. :)

You covered everything I need to know, thanks so much!

Yeah, I think I understand its mandatory for EU sites, just in reality, it really hurts my earnings, so I can take the risks to not show it, or at most show a banner which doesn't popup on users face.

I don't know what's wrong with Ezoic, but I touched nothing, for some weird reasons, it just hurts earnings and I can sure its Quantcast popup ruined all of this, so I have no choice lol.

I think my manager is a very legit and strict person lol, so he advised I should use a GDPR notice or I will risk losing the adexchange opportunity.

I will first try Wordpress Cookieyes plugin to show a non-intrusive banner, if things go well, I am okay, if not, I will ditch this whole thing lol.

Thanks again for your tips!
