My website which I've been working on for few months, recently because I figure my clients could be more than just from my own country, so I disable "Geo targeting" from the Google Search Console, and the SERP dropped crazily!

I've tried to switch back on for a day but nothing changed so I went back on and disabled it because in the long run I believe I wanted my website to be rank in more than just my country (I live in a small country from Asia).

Anyone experience this before? Are these usual and I just have to keep working on it and it will eventually back to original ranking and improve further from there?

Thanks! Please help me out

This is either coincidence or fluctuation because of recent change. You can keep going, it will be back if the drop Is not huge.

Google will first start deranking you in the targeted country and later start determining the position each of your pages should be in serp across different countries.

It's a slow process and can take some months before everything is normalized. Just like the previous commenter, there could be other reasons for the drop.
