Hi, my first post here :-)

I put up an affiliate on a fairly decent domain. You all know how google dislikes affiliate sites and this was a clumsy use of a WP datafeed plugin. Google quickly spotted it and downgraded it and now it's nowhere for anything. My question is; is this domain now useless or is it worth putting some new content on? As I said, the domain is an OK exact match domain that I might try and put good content as my main site has been affected by penguin.

If it has low competition and gets enough traffic for the keywords a month than you should be fine. Just tune up the image of your website and have high quality content to go with your products. Don't put ads especially above the fold! Do propper seo acording to penguin and you should be back where you were or on top spot. Good Luck.

I know Google dislikes affiliate sites, for more traffic you should be use new content. Yes, Google Penguin update 1.1 in 24 April, The Google Penguin update has had the most profound effect in these areas like The overuse of exact-match domain name, stuffing keywords in links; both inbound and outbound, Overly-aggressive exact-match anchor text links, Duplicate content, low-quality SEO articles, and blog spamming.

Yupp its ok to use an exact domain. But you wont get any benefbenfrom seo. As you know google update everyday. So its better randomize and keep thinhgs to long term.
