So I apologize if this question seems newbish, but I'm still learning the ropes of affiliate marketing (and no, I'm not completely lost, been doing freelance/contract seo for 4 years - too bad I still don't hardly know any web development, just basic html, lol) anyhow, so when I jumped into aff marketing, I read everywhere that "tracking, tracking, tracking" is key. So as I'm learning how to properly track and set up my tracking, how do I place the google/adcenter or whatever tracking program i'm using (like t202)'s conversion tracking code on the merchant thank you page? I don't imagine that every offer/merchant/affiliate network or whatever will place all my conversion tracking codes on the thank page that the user hits if they complete the offer/conversion/cpa etc...or am I overlooking something small and this is exactly what they'll do for me? I know how to track all the info about the ad, keyword, etc.. for users coming to my landing page and the ones clicking to the offer page, but unsure of how to track/place conversion code if/once they complete the offer....so some insight on this would be great, thanks everyone!

Every network will track your impressions/clicks/conversions/conversion rates. if they didn't you wouldn't know what to get paid.

    Hi
I am not sure if this is what you are referring to but your conversions are tracked by your affiliate id number which will be embedded in the banner or url when you deploy it.
I think the tracking you are talking about is the need to track which advertising is bringing you the conversions. This is so you know where you need to advertise more and which ones are not bringing results and should be dropped as they are wasting your advertising budget
    hope that helps
    Cheers Hamma

From what I Can gather in your thread starter you are looking to track your sales via product manufacturers sales pages. You are correct, not all companies offer this facility. Some do, they are the better products to be promoting. The only work around I know of is to do what it says in affiliate rescue. Copy the sales page (browser/file/save page as), remove the affiliates link from the bottom, purchase the domain name with an "s" on the end of it and then track your own pages. Aside from the only thing you can track is your affiliate ink with a tracking id (TID) on the end of it

    Hope this helps

    Regards

Well, I think I partially explain my question right, lol....well what I'm talking about is trying to install msn/adwords/analytics tracking code on the merchant "thank you page" so I can know which keyword or ad is bringing my conversions, I know my affiliate network will tell me my sales, but the at the end of the day, all they tell me is (you had this # of visitors to your offer page and this # of sales). I need to know which traffic source, kw, and ad it came from etc..

When adwords provides my conversion code, it says "install on conversion/thank you page." How do I get this code on the merchant thank you page is what i'm asking

Thanks for all the replies, you guys are a great help!
