Affiliate marketing

Hi everyone new here. What is the best way to start affiliate marketing today? I understand how it works as I have followed content creators marketing AF for about a year. A big question I have is How do I get x company to approve me for a link if I dont have a website or any Social media up and running? I am interested in doing dog products but I'm sure that's very competitive like 99% of AM. Looking for any advice about AM, could be about anything. Thanks!

Thanks for this, I will give it a look for sure. But lets say I want to do AM for x company do I need a following and a website before applying for that link?

Each offer allows different types of traffic - sometimes they accept traffic that isn't generated from your own website (social traffic, direct, email marketing, etc.)
