SEO is the best free way to drive traffic to the new website. If you are a complete beginner, let me tell you that understanding Search Engine Optimization takes time. You can’t just publish a couple of keyword-targeted articles and wish to get free blog traffic fast. There are aspects like domain age and domain authority that play an important role.

If you prefer waiting for a couple of months until you start getting some noticeable traffic from search engines, that's fine. But I suggest that you use these sources to get the things rolling as soon as possible.

The #1 tip Start Improving Your Presence On Social Media Networks

When it comes to social media, 90% of people start with Facebook fan pages. Don't be like those guys. Rather, start with a Facebook group.

Because the organic reach of Facebook pages is reducing.

This means that even if you have lots of followers your posts on your Facebook page will be seen in the news feed of just a few people. Facebook has changed its algorithms and it's harder for marketers to gain an audience without paying for Facebook ads.

However, Facebook is focusing on establishing groups. If you create a group with serious conversations you'll be able to promote your new blog post and drive free traffic to your website.

This can work with already created Facebook groups as well. Join other Facebook groups that have engaged members, participate in conversations, and build your personal brand. The benefit of vigorously liking, commenting, and starting conversations in these groups is that you'll get free exposure to thousands of people without having to build an audience from scratch.

Some groups also let you promote your blog post. That’s how you can get free blog traffic from Facebook, but don't stop there, you may use other social platforms as well.

Make sure that you post on social media at the right times. CoSchedule analyzed the best times to post on sites like Facebook, Pinterest, and Instagram.

The #2 Tip Start Commenting Blogs

In case you don’t know it, blog commenting is basically visiting other blogs in your niche and leaving an important blog comment. You can search for blogs related to your blogging niche in Google or use free tools like DropMyLink to find blogs to leave a comment.

But this won't work if you comment like “Hey this was a great article''. You should be leaving meaningful comments that inspire conversation. If your blog comment is impressive and adds value, that’ll not only help you get free blog traffic but also make a real connection with other bloggers and you'll also get backlinks that’ll help your rankings as well.

Some of the most popular blogs get millions of visitors, and it’s not hard to get a part of their traffic to your site. Important thing is to be one of the first commenters your comment stands at the top. The other important thing is that your comment must add value.

The #3 Tip Get Lots of Free Traffic Through Influencer Marketing

Influencer marketing is a form of marketing where you employ the influencers in your industry to promote your blog to their large audience. It is also known as Blogger outreach.

How do you use influencer marketing to drive free blog traffic to a new website?

You should create a killer content referring to other influencers and bloggers in your niche as a resource and link out to their article to support your research.

When you publish it, find the contact information of all those bloggers or influencers that you linked out in your post. Then, reach out to them with an email like this:

Hey (person's first name).
I just read your blog post about (title of their post), and I must say, it was an amazing article as it helped me learn (mention some benefits from their article).
I really appreciate the amazing work you have been doing. I have mentioned you in one of my recent blog posts (URL of your post).
Would you mind if I ask you to check it out and share it with your fans and followers?
If you share it, I’ll be highly grateful for your kind act. If not, I’ll still appreciate your work, no hard feelings.
Cheers, (your name).

Not all of them will share, but even if some of them share, it can bring lots of free traffic to your website very fast. Don’t forget to send them a thank you message when they share it. That way you’ll be creating a relationship with those bloggers and influencers.

The #4 Tip Use Click to Tweet

Click to tweet is one of the best ways to get more traffic from social media. You have to find something interesting in your content, a technique, strategy, quote or statistic. Then create a click to tweet link at clicktotweet.com and add that link to your content. When a person clicks on the link they get a prewritten tweet for easy sharing.

The #5 Tip Publish More List Posts

List posts work great to drive traffic to your website. BuzzSumo analyzed a million articles and they realized that list posts beat other formats of content. As they say, list posts get 6 times more shares than how-to posts and 40 times more shares than infographics.

The #6 Tip Answer Questions On Quora

The next source to get free website traffic is Quora. If you don’t know, Quora is a community where people ask questions and get answers to them.

According to Alexa, Quora is one of the top 250 websites in the world. There is hardly any search query for which you won’t find Quora in the top 10 search results. If you even get a very small percentage of traffic from Quora that can make a huge difference in your business.

If you are going to use this strategy, you should leave at least 10 solid comments per day. This won't take you more than an hour per day. You can also copy and paste posts from your website to Quora without worrying to get punished by Google for duplicate content.

Find the people who are interested in your content and once you start getting traffic to your website you will also be building your personal brand.

Create a free Quora account, then fill your profile and start answering. You can search for questions associated with your niche, the skill you have, or even the products or services you offer. Then answer the question and leave a meaningful answer that helps. Don't forget to add a link to your website as well.

Before you start make sure that you have great content on your website and time to spend on Quora. And remember that the point of Quora is not to build links or to drive traffic but to provide answers for others.

The #7 Tip Include Share Triggers In Your Content

Share Triggers are things you incorporate in your content that make people share it. When you incorporate share triggers in your content, people are more likely to share and link to it. And that brings traffic to your website.

Share trigger can be an information gap, content utility, social currency, even the design of your content can be a share trigger.

The #8 Tip Create Useful Content By Answering Questions

This is the strategy to make your content better and as you know, the better the content will bring more traffic to your website.

All you need to do is to find questions that your target audience is asking and answer those questions in your content.

You can use Answer the Public or Buzzsumo’s Question Analyzer to find questions that people ask when they search online, and then you create posts to answer these questions or include the answers into your content.

The #9 Tip Get Traffic From Forums

Forums can be a very effective traffic source. When you become an active member of a forum you build a funnel that gets people to your site.

The most important step in getting traffic from forums is to give a meaningful and relevant answer to questions and publish your content.

The #10 Tip Publish Viral Content

There are four things you can do to boost the odds for your content to go viral.

First, add lots of images, infographics, or a video into your content.

Second, your content has to be helpful in some way.

And third, create long blog posts.

Longer blog posts get relatively more shares and backlinks than short posts. As you can see, content that's at least 3000 words gets 208% more shares than short articles.

The #11 Tip Steal Your Competitor's Traffic Sources

What if you can see exactly where your competitors get their traffic from?

That would be awesome, right?

Well, you can see the website's traffic sources for free with SimilarWeb.

Imagine that you found out that one of your competitors is getting a lot of traffic from guest posting on a specific site. You can make a pitch for a guest post there too. Or if they drive lots of visitors from Facebook, you can launch a Facebook group.

You get the idea. With this method, you don't need to wonder what is the best traffic sources in your niche.

The #12 Tip Guest posting

Writing guest posts can bring lots of traffic to your site. If you want to do guest posting, the first thing you have to do is find websites that accept guest posts. That site should be relevant to your niche and have lots of comments.

Google is a great place to start searching for blogs that accept guest posts. This is how to search, just replace the word keyword with your keywords.

keyword “submit a guest post”

keyword “guest post”

keyword “guest post by”

keyword “accepting guest posts”

keyword “guest post guidelines”

keyword "write for us"

You need to know as much as possible about the blog's content, like what kind of audience are they writing for and what type of content are they publishing.

Remember that the guest posting is not about your business. Guest posts should be a helpful source of information without advertisements.

There's no such thing as "true" free traffic. You'll have to invest money in one way or another.
