I have a SaaS monthly subscription service site. Custom built, js
Low price points- 5.99/mo & 19.99/mo

My developer says he has an affiliate tracking script & can create an admin dashboard for affiliates (real time commission tracking, payouts, etc. as well as my dashboard to manage campaigns.
This will save me costs on using Rewardful or other platforms.

I have questions for you affiliate marketers:
1) Would you trust this site-built program as an affiliate marketer, & would you recommend for me to choose this option over a paid service like Rewardful?

2) (without sharing the site/product) What is a typical/fair commission % for these price points, 15-20%? I have some Youtubers interested with a decent sized reach of 400k + ppl, so I'd offer 30%+ for specific affiliates

3) As a monthly subscription, is it common to pay the affiliate in perpetuity for the entire lifecycle of the referred customer? or is it ever capped to a time frame- 6mos, 1 year, etc?

Thanks in advance- I'm new to being on this side of affiliate marketing as the seller

Hey,

We've implemented Rewardful for a few clients and I'd spend the $150 a month or so for their Bulk Payouts (they support Wise and PayPal) and more specifically for their fraud detection system.

Running an affiliate system is a full-time endeavor and with something like Rewardful (or even FirstPromoter) gets you that edge.

A home-grown system would require you to maintain the upkeep of a large amount of traffic, tracking everything and making things work. They're susceptible to bugs. And you can be accused of shaving for a minor blip in traffic.

You should look at reducing the mental cost when going in for these things.

To answer your second question, commissions happen in 2 ways. One is a straight up percentage based commission - in which case 20% in perpetuity sounds great. A second format is offering a lumpsum in case of fixed billings. So let's say $25 for every member who signs up using your link.

This (the latter) is very common in the hosting industry.

Finally, if you're doing percentage based commissions - it's kind of understood that the payouts are in perpetuity till the lifetime of the customer.

Thanks so much man, this is exactly the advice I needed!
