Affiliate link idea

Isnt there something more secure than domainname.com/affid=1234?
Like maybe the link just goes to the domain name, then when the click the subscribe, or purchase button or whatever, it is embedded with your affiliate id. That idea is kinda used in an mlm im part of, but it just links to affiliate pages.

I think its a pretty damn simple idea, but i may be wrong, any suggestions?

maybe you can clone the real sites using affiliate hijacker method, search it on member download section. This way you can clone any website with already inserted affiliate link.

I dont know why affiliate programs dont already do this though. The current referring method is so insecure.

Every affiliate tracking software is different. I fail to see how current methods are insecure. They work as they're designed. A user refers traffic, the tracking system sets a cookie and stores information in a database. When the referred user completes a purchase, the tracking cookie is read and credit is given. There are some systems that track by IP, there are some systems that track by cookie. Some systems combine both, others give credit to last cookie, some only give credit to first cookie.

Depending on the tracking system used, you could 'force' your cookie on the visitor then send them directly to the order page. That way you could create your own landing page and link directly to the order page from the landing page, all without displaying an 'insecure' URL as you say . It can work with clickbank and many others with some research...

Oh, it might just be the affiliate networks im with, like for example yuwie, they use a simple forward slash thing, or maybe they embed cookies as well. Like my title says, im newbie

There could be a lot going on server side regarding the URL..
