Guys,
I've been in the affiliate industry for many years and I never understood if it mattered if you use an affiliate affiliate link that is general compared to individual.
For example, for a clothing store. If you make a general affiiliate link for men's category and someone clicks on that link, but then clicks on men trousers. Then buys it.
Compared to deeplink to that trousers and the person buys it.
What I'm really asking is if the website knows that you reffered the customer to them. Does it matter if the url changes and no longer contains your affiliate id? Will it still be stored in the cookies, how does this work?
Thanks
