Hi,

I have been using several plugins to cloak affiliate links on my site for years, but recently Google de-indexed all of my sites- some of the sites were 4-5 years old. Some reading online reveals latest Panda updates is targeting affiliate link cloaking and getting them off from Google searches.

Question is what's the approved method to make affiliate link - user friendly, i personally don't like long affiliate url on my sites.

can anyone share what's the best plugin to use for cloaking affiliate links , which is Google friendly ????

I know that Amazon does not allow cloaked links anymore since July 1, 2012. So if you are an affiliate i highly recommend removing any cloaking.

Personally, i just use naked links to amazon, of course with rel="nofollow".

Btw. Of course you can use obidos links or amz.to links if you don't like long links. Or bit.ly, goo.gl?

I never have a problem with cloaked affiliate link with Google update. I use "Pretty Link" in WP plugin. It work good for me.

cloaking your URL is going to affect your ranking.

For main domain, don't use any cloaking.
inside your main website, use sub-domain url that doesn't require any ranking for cloaking your affiliate url

How do you know so certain? Word of mouth? Next time ask personally, don't spit the forum with rumors.

"The Associates Program Operating Agreement doesn't prohibit the use of link cloaking or shortening services provided that the service doesn't use methods which violate the Associates Program Operating Agreement, such as framing the Amazon site or automatically tagging sessions with your Associates ID.

You must clearly state that the link in question will take the user to the Amazon site when clicked and ensure that the site on which you are posting the links includes the required statement to identify yourself as an Associate. You must also be able to provide detailed information about the site(s) on which your links have been posted if we request it."

Statement received few hours ago.

Do as you please. You seem to be following me around, replying to every post i make about Amazon and cloaking... it's kind of creepy..

"Statement received few hours ago"
So what is that? From who did you receive that statement?

I just try to warn people that amazon can take away their earnings whenever they please. I know several people who cloaked their links and got Banned from the aff program.

But it's fine, i will stop trying to warn people.

So what is that??? Did you even read it? I contacted Amazon.com Associates Program, customer support! That was their reply along other inquiries I had.

I don't follow you around, I just kept my words regarding this subject, in only one other thread. I didn't looked after your name and such lol

People should either read TOS or ask personally official representatives, rather than browse random blogs and posts on forums, if they want to secure their questions.

I know that you were only trying to help, cheers

Okay, cool. If you had stated the source of your information i wouldn't have to ask. No offense.

Maybe we have different experiences or received different information from amazon.com. It seems these days they give out different information to their affiliates in their communication.

Thanks and have a great day, cheers.

I'm using http://eclipsecloaker.com/. It's not only the best, in my opinion of course, link cloaker, but also a sweet autolinking tool.

own your own redir, I use yourls (google it, free php/mysql script) you can mod it too, keep it private.

for some reason I was banned from an affiliate program when I used a link shortener... I'm not sure what i was doing wrong because I got banned with no notice
