Adwords tips for local website developer

Hey guys, thanks in advance for your help. Just looking for some initial adwords guidance. I'm a website developer and I'm wondering if you guys have any proven adwords templates/copy that converts, what CPC I could expect and maybe any other tips. Thanks again.
