Adwords is not working for me

I received a coupon for $100 back in March and signed up for adwords right away. Spend some time creating a campaign and getting my mail keywords in to match my web content. Placed a $0.50 per click and let it sit.
Checked back 2 months from starting day and not a single person clicked. I had $100 in my account still and it was showing that my campaign was active. I placed $1 bid and 2 months later I had $95 left meaning that in 2 months it only used $5?
Something is not right here

Just used Keyword Tool to get most out of my keywords and setup new campaign at $20 a day $0.25 a click.
Estimated rank is 4.6-5 on google search. I guess will try this for few days and see how it goes.
If I can get 3-4 customers a day with this method then it will pay for it self no problem and I could possibly increase daily $ amount or PPC bid

Yes Google adwords definitely is a nice medium to increase your traffic. But Social media branding of your website can get you more traffic and at a much lesser cost. In fact if you are doing it on you own then you are at profit.

Yes i am doing it all on MY OWN. If fact that for the first year I paid 0 for advertising and was doing my own leg work promoting it on car forums/local car groups/car meets and car shows. Travelled more then 5k miles in one summer to all the car shows and setup booths with banners. Got a big banner on the side of my car and posted all over craigslist locally. Basically I stayed away from all the social media and online advertising as much as I could until I build my capital. Now that I can afford to spend on online advertisement I want to lean best ways to stretch a dollar while online. I read a lot about it and its ether it works for you GREAT or you loose a lot of money without good return.
All the leg work I did over 2 years only brought 30-50 unique visitors daily on my website but from those visitors 3-5 people bought something. Now I want to expand the traffic to my site and bring in double the sales per day if possible.
I am on Twitter Tumblr Instagram Facebook Youtube now and its all so confusing with these hashtags and ats that its starting to get harder and harder to maintain it all.
I came to BHW in hopes to learn something new and get good at this. Since i do all my own work this should be a good ground to start on.

adwords is one big competition if your are not targeting the right way you will get no where fast and spen a lot of money doing it. You have to constantly adjust your CPC or they will not show your ads, thats why your are not seeing any results. Your ads are not being shown. Once you get in to the process of a adwords campaign it can be really fun. Just make sure that you are not promoting a thin affiliate site because they will ban the site for life.

I have a feeling you are overloading yourself trying to learn too many different aspects of internet marketing all at the same time. Pick one thing and stick with it and dont stop til you make that one thing work. Once you got that working, then move on to the next. I would start with Adwords. Adwords really is the centerpoint of legit online marketing. If you can't make an adwords campaign work, it is less likely you will make any other endeavors work. Thing about adwords is just about anyone really can make money on adwords if they know what they are doing. The product is almost irrelevant. Other marketing platforms aren't as inclusive. It sounds like you have a great website built if you're conversion rates are at 10%. I wouldn't worry about that too much at this point. Invest in some good adwords books and go from there. And before you venture into facebook advertising I would take a look at http://www.isfbforme.com

haha I have that feeling as well lol. Not an easy task to keep track of everything on your own when you growing.
On a good note i finally figured out whole adword thing and it started to work for me
Avg CTR 0.09 right now
Avg CPC $0.39
Impressions 5351
AVG Pos - 3.5 on google

CTR 0.09? I'm not sure, good CTR rates tend to vary from industry to industry but I have a feeling that is abysmal for any industry. I would try to keep them at least around 1% give or take. Everything else looks good. but what are your quality scores looking like? QS is a VERY important number. get acquainted with it fast. if you dont know what your QS's are, type in quality score into the google help desk thingymajigger. they have a short 3 minute video that explains how it is, and some other info on how to get it to display in your reports. i forget how to do it now off the top of my head. Also, those 5,351 impressions, are those for the lifetime of the campaign or just yesterday or just since you made the changes? Best way to keep track of the effectiveness of any changes you make is to create a custom time frame in the upper right hand corner of any page. Start from the day you made the changes.

I started it literally last night around 6pm so I hope it will grow a little more. My industry is very hard to compete in and bids on keywords are pretty high 0.45-.80 a click. With $10 daily limit thats very tough to get it going
I tried my best to come up with 60 keywords that will put me with other guys and also that will give me my own edge.
I will research QS and find out more about it. I never heard of it before. Once i have the info i wil report back

well that was easy. I calculated my QR % and it looks to be at 61% right now with 56 active keywords

QR%? If you're talking about your Quality Score, that is a rating given to your keyword by google (and secretly to your ad and adgroup) on a scale of 1 to 10. This is arguably the most important metric you should know in your campaign as it tends to dictate many of the other important metrics.

sorry i meant QS. Most of my keywords are 6-10 and only few 4-10 but nothing lower. About 50% of the keywords are above 6.
Google will update the total at some point today so we will see

try to shoot for a QS of between 7 and 9. 10 is very rare. Don't let that stop you from using a keyword below those scores tho as long as it's profitable.

try something like yahoo search marketing

does QS score goes down after its showing 10/10?

I added H7 Slim HID Kits and it gave me 10/10. Will that ever go down?

the biggest contributor to your QS is your CTR. the higher your CTR, the higher the QS google will assign you, and in turn, the lower the price they will give you for individual clicks. It's not uncommon for QS to shuffle around a little bit in the first few days after adding the keyword in to your campaigns, but it should steady out over time on a given number. There are other factors involved in calculating your quality score, some known, some unknown, but essentially the idea is the more clicks you get, the cheaper they become.
