[Advice] Starting an Affiliate Program

Not sure if this is the right place for this thread, so please advise.

My client is a salon owner and they offer a pretty high price point product and service and would like to market this service through affiliates, or an affiliate network as our local influencers are not really for a local area, if that makes sense.

So I am exploring this option for them and would appreciate any feedback.

The product price point is $45 wholesale with a 100% markup. The product can be sold online and then there’s a subscription offer.

The service price point is anywhere between 300-1000.

The category is hair loss, hair restoration, hair & scalp health.

I have concerns that your offer is too narrow for potential affiliates. Why they should promote a local salon if they can promote other products which not restricted by your local area? Also, you have an offline business so it can be difficult to track all sales from online channels. Certainly, you can try. For example, you can set up a Firstpromouter software and propose to niche sites referral links and personal promo codes. It will cost $100-200 and you will get a more solid answer on your question than opinions from the forum members.

Thank you Mark, these are exactly the things I’m looking for as to exploring this as an option.

The retail product targets the Hair Loss/Rapid Hair Growth Market and can be sold anywhere within the US, that is not an issue.

The service, I agree, might be difficult to track and I want to explore all the options and price points. The service perhaps would be better marketed through normal channels. But I would like the research/testing to prove me right or wrong.

I know of an industry product that is a mid-level price point that offers a 20% affiliate commission, but it isn’t in the same category.

I’ve never done affiliate anything so I don’t know what the value of that percentage is to the affiliate promoting it.
