Hi guys,

I'd be very grateful of any advice people may have for me after reading the following...

Early January I started to create a cycling niche website to be monetized by Amazon and by being an affiliate of a reputable cycling coach who sells coaching plans. (Other monetization methods may well be used)

I used an aged domain I had sitting about in an account of mine and at present have over 30 unique articles published and plenty more in the pipeline.

Currently, these articles are appearing to come in around page 3 +/- Google which I think is perhaps OK for starters? (Would you agree with this?)

My question is what should I be doing right now a couple months into the project?

Will these articles likely slowly continue to rise as time goes by or should I be looking at getting some link building work done or is it too soon?

Is there a particular type of link building that suits this type of affiliate site that can be carried out with the focus to raise the whole profile of the site rather than just focusing on getting individual articles to rank for set KW's?

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Tim

I think link building should be your primary focus now. Quality backlinks will help you establish your ranking on Google. Also, continue to publish relevant and fresh content regularly. Also, are you focusing on building an email list? The best kind of link building is one which comes from Guest blogging, so explore that option first.

Hi @hitqram Page 3 +/- is useless for traffic so its better to forget about it! Nobody looks through those pages.Start link building if your on-Page is completed.Hope so your articles are already optimised.

Appearing on pg 3 is ok for starters, yes.

If they're competitive products, then they'll stay there, because the front page and 2nd page are all optimized websites.

There's a lot of work involved in getting from page 3 to page 1.

Thanks, but yes I am well aware page 3 is no good for traffic. What I was asking was, is this a respectable page for all my fresh articles to land on as a start point before any time has passed or link building work been done.

Thanks for the reply. Am I safe to start link building after only creating the site back in Jan? It's an aged domain so does this not matter? Cheers, Tim P.S Yes content is not an issue, I have that extremely well covered and have new articles constantly being published.

Page 3 is good for not doing anything. But, as everyone else said, that won't put food on your table.

Yes, you can start link building now, especially since you said you already have some articles on there. Look for high quality, high metric links. Quality over quantity is the key to this game. Start analyzing your competitors backlinks and see if you can get any of those links as well and start researching better links so your link profile will beat out your competition. Keep in mind though that even if you have a better backlink profile (3rd party metrics are just that anyway) it will still take time to rank.

I think it is absolutely alright for you to start building quality backlinks. You could also make use of social bookmarking sites to build links. Start with Reddit, Stumbleupon, Fark etc.

If you are stuck on page 3 you better be a beast in social engineering and social media.

Dude appreciate the comment but if you read what I have said it's nothing to do with being stuck on page 3...

I now exactly what you mean and I meant, If your not good in SEO to promote your site you better be good in social engineering and social media as with those it doesn't matter which page you are at within Google.

But for backlinks you better use some SEO tools, ranker x, GSA and Scrapebox come to my mind.

Also, when replying to multiple people, use the +quote option, mods will appreciate that.
