Advice please - Panda or sandbox?

Hi,
I have a Wordpress site that is fed by scraped content but spun to make it unique. It used to get around 1000 hits/day from Google searches but since the 14th April this has gone down to about 50!

I have been doing some backlinking so at first I thought it was just a temporary sandbox thing and my site would start ranking again in a few days/weeks. However, now I'm worried it is a permanent and due to the Panda changes.

If it is due to the Panda changes would it have changed on the 11th? My site traffic actually went up on the 11th, 12th, 13th and then it went right down for the 14th.

Google spider still crawling regularly and no messages in webmaster tools. If anyone could advice whether this is likely to be sandbox or permanent I would be grateful!!

In March I did a 7000 profile blast but I just let these be indexed naturally (I think only a small percentage would be indexed). I also created a single .edu link manually a few days before this happened but that's it!

Doesn't sound like sandbox to me, the panda/farmer (whatever they call it) started on the 11th and doesn't necessarily mean they got to your site then. I had a few drop around that time as well but i still see them in google so i'm just throwing more unique content in there and quality links. Hopefully we can get them back or i'm taking a huge hit.

Is you site still indexed? if you dont mind you can tell me the url ..so that i can advice better. But yeah as some one said, work on your content and submit it for reconsideration.
 
Thanks - it's odd for the occasional page I am still #1 but for most (including the homepage) I'm nowhere to be seen. I was hoping it was sandbox and not permanent :(

Yes the site is still indexed - I don't think it's been banned at all. There are a large number of pages indexed it's just ranking very poorly for most now!
 
Everything I read seems to imply that the Panda algorithm change was completely rolled out for US google on 11th April and 12th April for some international versions. My traffic definitely increased on 11th/12th April it only dropped on 14th. I'm therefore hoping it's sandbox rather than panda (though might be kidding myself!) any thoughts? thanks
 
How many indexed pages do you have ? How many varying topics does your site cover ? To what % do you spin your content (and do you proof it before letting it go live) ?

Hi Talsin,
I have 1600 pages indexed. I wrote my own script to spin content - each sentence is unique but I don't know exact percentage it would vary per article. No I don't proof read it - some could be pretty junky! This all ranked quite well before - I'm just trying to determine if it's sandbox or panda.

1600 indexed pages, with varying content on different subjects? Does suggest it could well be Panda. After all it was the content farms that Panda was supposed to target.

How long are the articles on your site in general (350 words, 500 words, 1000 words)? Do you have a lot of do-follow links leading out from your site ?
 
Sounds like you've been pandalized. You're type of site is exactly what the algorithm set out to reduce. It was released on the 11th but takes time to be rolled out.

Yes it's varying content on different subjects. Each page is very short (about 100 words long). I did recently add 10 outbound do follow links to each page - I've removed those now.

I know it all sounds suspiciously like panda I was just hoping it wasn't because of the dates!

We are in the same boat. I thought I am the only one who was hit by this. My sites dropped on 14th too, suddenly gone to nowhere. What I'm not sure is this is because of profile links or the duplicate contents.

Right now I'm building new links hoping to see them back though.
 
I think Google panda acted on your site, that's the only explanation.

Think it must be penalty from the Panda update for dup content then. So more backlinks may not help :(

That sucks:( This panda crap actually surprise me. In the past they never did what it said and now they make change so radical...

I guess I either build a new site or try to change to 99% spun content and see if it'd be back though.
 
Exact same story for me !
I just realized that one of my sites just to be thrown behind...

It was just a week it was starting to generate AdSense.
Today, I'm Irritated !

I go out 5 minutes to kill someone, I'll be back.

I have 100% unique content and white hat backlinks on one of my sites and it still dropped from the #1 spot to #14 on the 13th. I think I'll just not care so much and continue adding unique content and backlinking.
