Advice on winning a contest?

So, I'm interested in winning an ATV in a referral based contest. I know the guy who is in sixth place in the contest and he doesn't even have that many referral.

Here is my question: Is there a way that I can link to the signup page so that the "referred by" section on the form already contains my referral code?

thanks! I was considering that, especially now that I've read the rules and it doesn't say buying referrals is against the rules :rock:
