Hi guys, I set up a priv network, and I must have fallen short somehow because it didnt have any impact (positive or negative).

The domains are indexed, in fact if I post a new article to any domain it gets indexed right away, so I am assuming it havent been 'busted'. Also I haven't sold links to anyone and been very conservative about onnly linking to one MS on each domain. In very rare occasions I linked to more than one MS.

I am a bit puzzled because I see people having good results so I am wondering what am I overlooking.

Here are some questions that I have in mind:

    • once you set the site up, do you wait for a period of time before you use it to link out to the MS?
    • do you rebuild the site by grabbing content from archive? or you use fresh content? or both?
    • is hostnine a footprint? people using seo hosts? I'm still worried host is the biggest footprint (as I said however, it doesnt seem to be "busted")
    • if using wordpress do you backdate posts to match the history of the domain?
    • do you think the domain registration of domains in the pbn can be another footprint
    • even if the pbn doesnt seem to be "busted", at least not manually, do you think there can be an algo that automatically devalues links from it? Something like: "IF more than x% of backlinks to this site come from domains with a registration date within a range of 3 months, THEN devalue"
    • what about velocity? do you, for example, place 3-4 links a day and you keep doing it indefinitely?

those are potential issues that come to mind. I am using all different whois, IPs, wordpress themes, almost all content is original except for a few filler articles from articlebuilder.

    any comments, advice, welcome. Thanks

Before answering all of your questions, are you sure your PBN actually has any link juice? I see noobies setting up PBN's with "PR6" domains, that were in fact just redirected domains that had nothing of value to begin with.

Does your network have links to your PBN with value?

Sorry forgot to mention about that. I've had serious questions on what metrics to use, but I settled on the criteria described on a post (cant paste links) by a member here (Nick Flame).

    I'll paste the most important part here: (PR x 10 + DA + PA + TF + CF) > 80

Made sure they were indexed, no fake PR and no spammy links.

They are usually PR 1 or 2 with Trust Flow of 10+

    1) How long have you waited since you have put out those links?
    2) How many PBNs do you have, and what is the keyword competition?

I think you might just have to wait a little longer. It's not something which happens overnight. If you did your PBN correctly, you should see a SERP increase at the very least. That will tell you whether it is working out for you.

    • Yes.. 5 to 7 days recommended.
    • I use fresh content and it works very well. Say I make it a fresh website.
    • Hosting is a major footprint but you can avoid that by using multiple hostings + cdns etc
    • Not at all!
    • Thousands of domains get registered everyday.. shouldn't be a major prob but still try spreading the things out.
    • Dayum Man.. you think too much!
    • Depends on number of posts.

1 - This is another variable I wasnt sure about. I have blogs that have been setup and are still not used (no link to MS yet). Those that have been used, I'd say the minimum would ve been 2-3 days between setting up the blog and placing another article with a link, and it could have been up to 1 week+.

Do you think this is too soon to use? Should I age them more before use?

2 - I have 84 as of now.. but I have used 40 in one target without seeing anything move.. and 25 in another target (and on this one actually rankings did go down a few positions... so I was wrong when I said that nothing happened)

The keyword is very competitive, but the targets I am referring to were already up there.

The one where I used 40 links and nothing moved was/is at the top of page3, and the other one was 5-6 and now it's 10.

I could go more aggressive I'm just scared to keep pushing rankings down.

I think these targets may carry a lot of history and I should maybe run tests on more fresh targets.

    haha

I was referring to the number links for the target/MS, not how many links/posts you publish in your PBN blog.

You have 84 PBNs and you are still asking questions? I think you are in the wrong place buddy. How much did you spend per PBN for the 84?

I've had just 20 PBNs to rank my site for page 1 for a medium comp keyword. If you have 84 and you are still not ranking, I would really doubt the quality of your PBN.

why do you think I am in the wrong place? From what I read around here, many people are using PBN and many having good results with them (like you for example, which you got decent results with 20 PBN).

Me on the other hand.. couldnt move the needle with 40 links from PBN to one MS and 25 to another MS.

So you are correct in that there is probably something wrong with the quality of my PBN, which is why I am here asking questions...

How much I spent? all domains were dropped so I only paid registration, plus a bunch in article writing, host, contractor.. probably around 1.5k so far?

Im thinking I should buy into some of the offers here in BHW that make PBNs for you. So I can have a benchmark to work with.

Is there a common consensus around here regarding who provides the best PBN service?

There is a fundamental problem with this formula. It rewards domains with a high CF.
I wouldn't mind betting that the majority of your domains have a CF that is quite high, and likely more than 2x the TF. In that case, there's your problem.

Dang they got formulas now? LOL

If you want good PBN sites, you can't rely on these 3rd party generic metrics. There is no substitution for good ole backlink analysis.

You gotta look at the overall quality of the individual links going to the website.

    It's not rocket science people.

In my honest opinion you have a problem with money site and not with links...maybe it something to do with onpage..why dont you try to rank another site with same pbn before you jump to conclusion that something is wrong with your network

It's mostly a lack of quality domains. Also: It can take up to 4 weeks before you see the (positive) impact.

Thanks for all the feedback guys. Definitely some variables to look for.

We do use the formula but we also do manual analysis of backlinks, and we do favour TF over CF. So usually our domains have same or higher TF than CF. Favouring TF actually makes the backlink analysis easier and faster, because you usually look at domains that have decent backlinks. The formula helps us to have a starting point, and from that point forward we do some manual looking. But because this is an outsourced task, I guess sometimes stuff falls off the radar.

pike222 I think you might be on to something. Another member here suggested me the same thing yesterday, I'll do more tests on this. I think the targets Im promoting might be carrying a lot of history so we have many unseen variables and maybe the problem isnt the PBN.

nlhead48 I think you might be on to something too. Actually yesterday one of these MS jumped from 20-25 to 11. This is for the main keyword, but it improved rankings in many related keywords as well. I'm not sure if I'm seeing a dance due to the recent algo updates, or if I'm finally seeing some benefit from my PBN (which is what I hope)

Thank you guys, you might not realize but your feedback helps and gives me to think about and to improve the network

Take it from personal experience, go with a guy here called bluematter. I am using him and he is solid. He will also give you pointers on PBN.

Something you might try is this.

I used to buy domains which have good metrics like high PA and DA. The problem was that many of these sites were spammed, which is why they have so many links and have such good metrics.

Now I only buy domains which might not have the best kind of metrics and definitely less links. They have about just a couple of hundreds of link. But I do check through their links manually. What I look for are domains with legit links from authority sites. Sites that have good links just because they are a good resource. Local businesses that folded, blogs that used to provide good information about their niche. You will find that if some of their links are legit, chances are the rest are from good sites.

I've been seeing good success with this method. And the best thing is you can get them for pretty cheap as well because noobs will always use some kind of formula and look at metrics. And they end up paying much more for domains.
