Advice on mailing

I have recently found out that via a simple perl/python search script I am able to retrieve all the e-mail addresses of students on my school (5000++). They're all just students of the university.

What kind of offer do you guys suggest I promote? Was planning on doing the mailing via Aweber.

Nice one! I would link them some kind of coupons connected to cheap food, this of course needs to be a CPA coupon. Try to make it look like you are some kind of student organization when mailing.
 
And you could also sell the list, don't know where though? Maybe in this forum and "Services for sale".
 
I wouldn't recommend this. How many of those addresses may be faculty, students that work on the schools IT? I wouldn't want to be outed as the student that spammed the entire school. Aweber will not let you load that list without mailing a verification messages asking every person on it if they opted in to receive your messages.

If you decide to do it anyway you better cover your ass good.
 
MailChimp will allow you to add them to your list without verification...

I suggest doing an offer for something free, but not the generic "Free ipod" ones. You could look for some quality CPA offers and promote those so everyone wins...

You could also iFrame the offer with your school colors to make it look more official.
 
Maybe some email submits related to music downloads, movies, ring tones, food coupons? ...not sure what kind of offers are out there...any free beer promos? lol jk :lmao:

That age group 18-22 would be receptive to submitting their email address I would think.

I would just cover all tracks...you def don't want to get in trouble with your school. Good luck :)
