I'm total newbie here, reading forum to learn as much as I can.

I have an idea for niche site, I'm well versed about the subject and now I'm trying to figure out some keywords. I've tested couple ideas on KWFinder and here are the results:
Searches: 1.6k/1.3k
CPC: 1.52/1.25
PPC: 6/3
Difficulty: 51/50

Number of searches is low but CPC is high, and difficulty is probably somewhat high for the newbie like me.

Any advice on this, the words are relatively short (2 and 3), should I go for longer tail with less competition or try these?

I think the keyword difficulty is too high for a "newbie" like you. (According to you), However, if you know how to structure built a niche website with full silo, then you stand a chance of ranking.

I somewhat loved and trust Kwfinder

yea a brand new site, esp a niche, id say 50 is pretty steep

like @asap1 said, around 25 and under is good starting point

KWFinder says it's tough competition, but top sites for those keywords are more or less garbage, with maybe couple of pages of content that is closely related to the subject and rest of the site is screaming BUY, with designs dated from MySpace age...

I'm hoping to build high quality site related to the subject and gather some permanent audience, so maybe the high Google ranking isn't a must.

I'll definitely do more research, thanks for replies.

regarding kwfinder, the monthly fee is a bit pain in the axx.

any subs service do use it tgt ?

Damn seems so many BHW guys trusting these silly algo numbers. I wonder why?

I would suggest you to grab google top 10 and analysis them manually. Also try ahrefs to check their referring domains and how powerful they are. Then think whether you can fight back them or not.

Like many competition checkers KWfinder just using silly numbers from MOZ or any algo.
