Advice on creating an affiliate system - Urgent!

Hi guys!
Need your advice, so there's this startup, they produce a physical product in a promising market. They ask for help selling it, and offer very good commission, but they have no clue what they're doing in the sense of affiliate marketing.
What would be a simple solution for tracking affiliate sales and payouts?
Please help!
