Who has had success with this? And what worked for you? I got this idea from Alex Becker, who always makes things seem a lot easier than they really are. He talks about creating 'epic bait' and then using social media and forums to market it, but I was wondering if there are other, better methods.

Right now I use Facebook and Instagram to draw in people. I post my new blog articles to these pages along with my personal Facebook and LinkedIn usually.

1. Put out the sign-up sheet.2. Leverage business cards.3. Host an event.4. Invite people to ‘join the club’.5. Organize a giveaway.6. Drum up emails with direct mail.7. Try some telemarketing.8. Optimize your website for opt-ins.9. Build with your blog.10. Engage through social media.11. Don’t give up on bouncebacks.12. Piggyback on a colleague’s efforts.13. Don’t let website visitors get away.14. Create an online community.15. Leverage ‘email only’ specials.16. Don’t forget your own email.17. Use Foursquare.18. Be active on blogs and forums.19. Get employees involved.20. Encourage customers with a daily deal.21. Word of mouth still rocks.22. Encourage forwarding.23. Serve up a sandwich board.24. Use receipts.25. Take it to the street fair.26. Encourage competition.27. Go mobile.28. Inside-the-box ideas.29. Make it more than just a bill.30. Signs of the times.31. Network for emails.32. Download freebies.33. Speak up for yourself.34. Giving it all away.35. Subscriber-only access.36. Give them subscription options.37. Don’t forget the power of print.38. Leverage testimonials.39. Create a teachable moment.
.40. Reel them in with a scroll box.
