Advice on a Gaming site.

Video games, not things like Poker or gambling.
More like MMPORG and first person shooters. I got a good domain, do alot of gaming myself. I can edit video and create good looking media for sites. I have plans to provide ingame video footage and game reviews. Basically Media production for the site is not the issue. Often I make a good looking site but normally it just sits there, I try and get traffic and I just suck...
No traffic! Generally the sites never pan anything out. Basically I seriously suck at generating traffic. Do you understand that I suck at traffic yet?:)

What are some of the key things I need to know to get started in making revenue and traffic generation? See all I do is Graphic Design and scripting but making money on a site and gettin traffic worked out is very new to me.

Any of you got some bones to throw for a beginner in Web traffic and Marketing?

For video games, getting traffic from social networking sites would work really well. Most people involved in video games are also involved in youtube/facebook/myspace/twitter/digg and other similar sites.

If you are good at video editing, you can post them on Youtube and drive a lot of traffic to your site.
 
Thanks that was part of plan, I was to put some youtube clips on youtube for sure and just keep doing that weekly:)
 
Let us not forget our beloved top sites. Those give very good traffic . Plus there are ways in which to exploit them in which you get number one rankings really fast. These also give you backlinks as well.

Plus with unique content plus backlinks from top sites plus backlinks from youtube you are bound to have some sort of success . Just do not be lazy. I have a gaming site that gets 400 visitors a day and countless page views. I did not do it for money I did it because I love gaming.

I spent a little extra time and signed up to about 100 or so top sites I have not even scratched the surface. This can be upscaled and outsourced with having someone sign you up to about 1k or more top sites to get you some free traffic from people who really do enjoy gaming. Targeted traffic my friend it does not get any better than that.
 
Buy?? Why would you buy one you can easily make a blog with info about gaming on it. I would not recommend this niche if you have no love for gaming as you will have no passion in this niche and your post will be dry.

As I said me personally I do not do it for the money I do it because I already have money and I enjoy gaming.
 
I run a gaming / ladder site for the socom series and what I did was join a bunch of other gaming forums and be active, Answer alot of questions on yahoo answers. Join and create a bunch of groups. main thing is really to get involved with other sites. If you have something usefull to say then they will follow.
 
Well I said buy because there is CPA offers that pay you to take surveys so you can let people get credits for surveys to play games and you make money win win type of thing.
 
What you need to do, is become affiliated with high-class videogames forums, such as CAG, NeoGAF, etc. Once you've built a reputation, just make a post dictating your new website. If your liked within the community, there is no reason they wouldn't atleast look.
 
This is just my suggestion, but you could throw it in to the gaming section using stumble and let people find it by accident whilst stumbling, if it is a good site then you will find people will like it and start coming back even more.

Just an idea.
 
use intrigue, curiosity will drive tons of traffic.
the ability to create a curiosity-driven content can be trained.

When you'll master this skill you'll gain google ranks, traffic, authority status and money.

Just think about ARGs.
 
dude use youtube....Advertise ur Gaming site on youtube....
Make a video....make an interesting FPS gaming video...
like COD modren Warfare 2 is coming out...
make a video about it...tell Everybody abt the gameplay of this game...
and in the end...of the video write...for more information...and For.....Games...Visit

U will generate traffic...try to Get ur video on the top of the Search...Call of Duty...
try fake video promotion for that....and that's it... ;)

I think it could if you chose the right gameing vid for it, Something like cod World at War or something, don't make up a new one, use the one above or cod4 or something as people are always looking for help guides or people to join there teams.
 
Dont run a COD site, its all about socom, I made quite a few with confrontation and it worked, Got quite a bit of traffic from it.

Ok lets meet in the middle run bot cod and socom lol, no seriously though thats what you are targeting the big games, thats what people look for on videos is the big games, if it comes to it do a video for each console, Socom ps3, Cod for xbox360, and then Mario galaxy 2 or something along them lines for the Wii and then tell them at the end of each video, want to know more about these games and more come visit mysite at http://www.mysite.whatever all the info you need on these games and so much more.
 
dude make a video abt that game...which IS about to come...And it's a hit in the past...
there is almost no info abt modren warfare 2 so make a video abt it....it will attract a loq of people try it....
