    Hi,

Ive been a member for a little while now and to be honest sit back and just read posts, im pretty new to a lot of this and was looking for a little bit of advice.

a couple of years ago i approached a local web-design company to create my business a well designed site i can get work from. They quoted me £1,200 and i went ahead and had it done.

Now i have recently ask for a few updates (which i can do myself as the website is CMS), but they have suggested to me that i now move to a Wordpress Design for future proof.

Now they have Quoted £4000+ for this, saying they work £70 an hour for 60 hours..

From here i dont know where to go, now i know elsewhere i can get this service cheaper and maybe just as good, but this company have done a good job thus far.

    Hi stuarthk,
I am a web designer based in Scotland and I think the guy you are using for design is chancing his luck stay away I could sort you out with a proper service for much cheaper I could do this a hell of a lot cheaper and like I said I am based in the Uk If you just want updates done I could sort that out for around £80 if you want to move to Wordpress I would need to have a look at your website before hand but we def would not be talking anything in the thousands. I can give you links to some of my websites if you like I won't be posting them on blackhat forums however.

Even if you decide not to use me please don't use this guy he is clearly taking advantage

Assuming your site isn't anything out of the ordinary regarding its functional requirements, the quote is way overpriced. 60 hours for a WP site migration is ... duh.

i thought so, thanks for your advice..

it wasnt just 1 guy it was a well renown Website company in the local area and i think they have gotten too big for their boots.

the only problem i have is i do not have the Source Code and pretty much stuck.

How many hours should a WP Migration take and i will PM my website link so you can take a look.

also JackLaidLaw ill PM you wouldnt mind a quote to see where i stand.

have a go at building the wordpress site yourself, wordpress is very easy to use and there are loads of tutorials on youtube and if you get really stuck ask for advice on BHW. You will then also be able to make changes and updates yourself.

These days I realize most "design firms" are just buying commercial themes and tailoring them for their clients needs.

You can probably do them same for yourself for less that £100.00
