Advice needed on promoting a site

Hi Guys,

I hope you might be able to help me out a little here. A friends has asked me to help promote a classified ads site in the UK. He is a bit oblivious to the way that things work and thinks he can rank for the keyword "Freeads" (very heavy competition).

I have said i will look at ways in which we can promote his site and get relevant traffic through natural searches.

Any advice on where we could start would be much appreciated.

go to the BST and order massive u-net/pyramid/minisite premuim package and a link pushing service. you will have to combain everything - tons of backlinks, web2.0 propertis, articels etc..

for very high competitive keyword, it's really a long way you've got to go.

As a matter of fact, Google's treating high competitive KWs like second-class citizens

Have you sorted long tail keywords? Also look at big-boards and find forums that are for women, unemployed and spam away mate

its all about the longtail keywords baby, got to be honest you will struggle to compete for "Freeads" but if you pluck out some diamond longtail keywords it will go along way to getting the site traffic, and providing the keywords include Freeads then it will give you a boost for your main keyword in the long run.

Whats the budget? this is a serious question.Even longtai selling words are very competitive,what are his goals?
The budget question is simple he could start by using adsense for longtails but obviously a decent budget is needed.
