Advice for starting a new Membership website.

Hello, I recently created a dating website. Also I own a forum website. However here is my question and please
forgive my newbness. But how do you get people to join a dating website or membership website when theirs no one
on the website. For me it seems like chasing your tail. People will not join your membership website because there is no
people and there is no people because people will not join a dead website.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Advertise on BHW
Pay some freelancers to make fake accounts on your website. After that you can promote it on forums and get real members hopefully.
 
There are many services available in internet market and also available more option for promotion, it's all depend upon you, which type of promotion you want...firstly make user friendly website , you also mention above ; website is membership website that's good your focus is clear. For increasing traffic hire freelancer and they are create id, different- different name and country and also hire seo person ,they work on online promotion .
 
Getting visitors on a 0 users / 0 posts / 0 threads membership site... dude, this gives me the chills!

You can start populating yourself the forum but I you'll develop multiple personalities. Best thing is hire 10-20 outsourcers each writing 10+ quality posts (2-3 paragraphs long) and a few threads...

Also, you should (as the forum administrator) create some very insightful & helpful & how-to threads, like mini articles.

As has been said buy and pay for members. You could also xrumer yourself maybe?
 
I'm hoping you didn't just find a code, and upload it, and expect to be the next millionaire.. Hope you're ready to work for it.
There are a bunch of ways to advertise.. But its going to cost you A LOT LOT LOT of money and time.
The best thing you probably would have to do is make it free to start off
First off.. pay people on sites like minuteworkers to sign up and make spoof accoutnts
Advertise spend a lot of money on this.. not a few bucks but thousands..
 
Besides marketting, you can avail the services of "Data scrapping" companies. A few of them not just scrape the data from other forums and websites, but they also spin it. Once you will have enough threads in your forum, advertise it and it will start getting "genuine" members.
 
Wait. The OP didn't mention that he was making a dating forum. Can you clarify if you made a dating site or a dating forum?
If you did indeed make a forum, the best way to initiate it, like a few others mentioned above, is to buy some members from other forums and pay them 5$ per 100 posts....you get the idea. Once you've populated enough, start promoting on other forums in your niche and start some PPC campaign as soon as possible, once you start getting decent traffic.
 
Have a developer write a software that adds a bunch of bots to the site, who communicate with your users. :)
 
Most membership sites work by offering something of VALUE first off, then as you build the website you can charge at a later time.
 
Look for a website on google called postloop. Will take some work on your end but they will help get your members site going.
 
To get members to join a forum or member site when no one has joined yet is difficult, but one of the best ways to do this is build a real website around the topic and make the forum/membership part of the website. Collect email addresses and send newsletters that also promotes your forum/membership. It takes some effort on your side, but once you get things going you won't be able to shut it off, people will register frequently. Always find new and creative ways to promote and get the word out. The dating niche is hyper-competitive, and you've got to fake it till you make it. As others have suggested, create large quantities of fake profiles, a forum on the site with fake posts, fake featured members, etc. Study other dating sites and see what they do, and go from there.
